Clinton News Record, 2016-05-18, Page 9Wednesday, May 18, 2016 • News Record 9 OPP BRIEFS • Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a 28 -year-old male from Waterloo this week after he drew attention to himself taking a plunge into Lake Huron in the nude. At approx- imately 7:20 p.m. on May 9, OPP officers were dispatched to the St. Christopher's Beach area in Goderich after witnesses reported a male had exited his vehicle, stripped down into the nude and went into the water for a swim. After a short swim, the male exited the water and walked around the beach area before returning to his vehicle. The male then left the area in his vehicle. Min- utes later, officers were able to locate the sus- pect vehicle parked at a restaurant located on Bayfield Road. The male was placed under arrest for committing an indecent act, and while speak- ing with the male the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. A road- side -screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was then also placed under arrest for Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was subse- quently transported to the Exeter OPP Detach- ment for breath tests where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples registered over the legal limit. 28 -year-old Milos Agatonovic from Waterloo has been charged. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 4 in Goderich. He also received an automatic 90 -day driver's license suspension and his vehi- cle has been impounded for seven days. • On Wednesday, May 11, the OPP, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau — Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Huron OPP Property Crimes Unit and Huron OPP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence located on South Street in the Town of Goderich, Huron County, Ontario. As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized methamphetamine, marihuana, cocaine and marihuana plants. The estimated combined street value of the seized controlled substances is $2,400. Police also seized offence related property that consisted of $360 worth of unmarked cigarettes (contraband tobacco). Police arrested and have charged the following Huron County residents: Shaun Jamieson, 33 years of age from Goderich and Ashley Albrecht, 31 years of age from Goderich have been charged. Both have been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 20 in Goderich. At approximately 7:10 a.m. on May 6, OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and North Huron Fire Department personnel responded to the collision scene located on Harriston Road (County Road #87) just east of C Line Road. West Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) members attended the scene and assisted with the collision investigation. The deceased was traveling eastbound on Harriston Road when he lost control of his vehicle exiting a curve in the roadway. His vehicle left the roadway, rolled and crashed into the south ditch. He was transported to hospital by air ambulance where he received treatment for his injuries. The deceased, Jason Simmons, 28 years of age from Wingham, died in hospital yesterday as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. • The OPP learned a 58 -year-old driver from Central Huron has died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision last week. At approximately 7:30 a.m. on May 6, Huron County OPP members and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a two -vehicle crash located at the intersection of Huron Road and Front Road. The deceased was traveling westbound on Huron Road in a Honda Civic when he collided with the rear end of a stopped Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Rogue had been waiting for traffic to clear in an attempt to turn left across the highway. The 58 -year-old driver of the Civic was transported to a local hospital where he received medical attention. He later died in hospital on May 7. A post mortem revealed the driver sustained internal injuries from the collision, which ultimately led to his death. The deceased has been identified as William Shipp, 58 years of age from Clinton. West Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team members continue to investigate this collision.
