Clinton News Record, 2016-05-11, Page 13MTO unwilling to grant extension for bridge repairs CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 12 In order to reach the second milestone outlined in the fund- ing agreement, the municipal- ity will have to submit a sub- stantial completion report within 15 business days of the Dec. 31 substantial completion deadline. Once the ministry receives this report, it will issue either 85 per cent of the remaining funds or an "amount calculated by multiplying the percentage of the total funds against West Perth's total eligi- ble net costs, less the amount paid at the first milestone:' "Did the ministry give you a reason why they wouldn't extend (these deadlines) when you gave them all the facts?" Coun. Bob Burten- shaw asked Kraemer. "We are fully under the impression that this has to be done in this year's fiscal year because it's in this year's (provincial) fiscal budget," Kraemer responded. "It's an unrealistic expectation, but hopefully we'll meet it" The municipalitywill receive the remainder of the Connect- ing Links funds once it submits the final project report to MTO no later than the end of the provincial fiscal year on March 31, 2017 when the funding agreement expires. No funds Wednesday, May 11, 2016 • News Record 13 will be issued after March 31. "If we don't see people up on that bridge by July 5 - the holiday's on the Friday - if we don't have the road closed and somebody up on that bridge by July the 5th then we're going to have issues," Coun. Dean Trentowsky surmised. "We'll have to hire somebody that does bridges for a living, it can't be someone who dabbles in it" Since councillors did not want to forgo nearly $1 million in provincial funding regard- less of their concerns with the project timeline, they voted unanimously to sign the Con- necting Links funding agree- ment with MTO. !fit J jester Quality Water Is OurOnlyBusiness Softeners, ProblemWater Equipment MaintenanceTo All Makes, Water CoolerSales or Rentals, Delivery Across Huron, Perth& Bruce Counties.
