May 1 marked a new month
and the date of Clinton's
annual Hike for Hospice.
It costs $10 to register for
the event, and each partici-
pate received a t -shirt and a
free barbeque meal. For
every $50 each individual
raised, they received a
ticket to go into a draw.
First prize was a $300 Cana-
dian Tire gift card, second
prize was Fitbit, and third
prize was an iTunes gift
card.
The walk started at Clinton
Public Hospital's Gazebo at
1:00 p.m. and was 5 kilome-
ters long. This is the first time
the walk has been hosted in
Clinton; in past years it has
been held in Goderich, Sea -
forth and Wingham.
"We chose Clinton
because our office has been
moved to the Clinton hospi-
tal," said Shirley Dinsmore,
the Executive Director of
Huron Hospice Volunteer
Service. "We felt the commu-
nity had been very receptive
to us, so we figured we
would have it here."
Huron Hospice is a volun-
teer run, free service. Their
volunteers to go homes, hos-
pitals, and long-term care
facilities to provide care,
emotional support, and
practical assistance to
patients and their families.
The total funds raised at
the event was $7000, and all
the funds will stay in the
community.
