Central Huron begins
process of "re -branding"
Justine Alkema
Clinton News Record
A committee made of members of
the Clinton and Central Huron BIA and
Central Huron council are aimed at re-
branding Central Huron.
The committee wants to figure out
what is the unifying message of Central
Huron and market the town using that
message. This includes all of Central
Huron, not just Clinton, which is com-
prised of Holmesville, Londesborough,
Kinburn, Auburn and Clinton.
"I've heard people say we're the
'heart of Huron;' said committee mem-
ber Jeff Roy. "And that's great; it makes
sense. Yes, we are in the centre of
Huron County, but why would you stop
a car because you're the heart of
Huron?"
There have been various actions
done by the BIA to promote the town,
for example painting the doors
downtown bright colours. However this
committee wants more than random
initiatives. They want to market the
town as a whole and develop initiatives
from that.
"We're taking a step back to create a
strategy," said Roy. "Then everything is
consistent because we have the same
message."
The committee will deal with ques-
tions regarding what they are trying to
do, who they want to be and who they
are trying to attract to the town. Right
now, it seems to them that everyone
has different answers to these
questions.
Marketing involves telling a clear
narrative. Central Huron wants to
decide on their story.
This could be manifested in ways
such as flags in the downtown, a colour
theme, what signs should look like, how
businesses could advertise accordingly,
promotional material, etc.
