The Central Huron YMCA, which is a
satellite site of the YMCA's Across
Southwestern Ontario Association, is
partnered with the Municipality of Cen-
tral Huron to service the community.
A presentation given to Central
Huron Council earlier in the year
assured that although there have been
some struggles in the past year, the key
personnel positions have been filled,
which will bring more stability in lead-
ership. New programs are being
planned to expand services and pro-
vide more opportunities to participate
and get active in the community.
The Clinton site opened in October of
2011 and features the wellness centre
that is open 7 days per week with quali-
fied staff available for wellness consul-
tations and personal training. There are
also group fitness classes including
cycling, Group Power and Yoga.
Zachaary Kuiper has been a member
at the Clinton site since the gym
opened in 2011. He has worked his way
from coming in to make some serious
changes to improve his health to being
on staff as an instructor in the wellness
centre. Kuiper explains that the YMCA
is very much into sharing the success
stories of its members. He proudly
points to a photo along with his per-
sonal success story that is on display on
the service counter. When a member
shows notable success, with their per-
mission, their photo is taken and their
story is shared to motivate others. This
practice helps newer members by
