The council position represents the West Ward (formerly the Township of Goderich). The successful applicant will fulfill the remaining term of office until November 30, 2018. Qualifications: The applicant must be: • a resident of the municipality or a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality or the spouse of such a non-resident owner or tenant; • a Canadian citizen; • at least 18 years old; and • not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office. Interested parties must complete a Council Vacancy Application form and Declaration of Qualifications (available at the municipal office or website) and submit a one page statement (no resumes please) expressing: 1. Your interest in sitting on council; 2. Outlining any prior community and/or council involvement; and 3. Familiarity with municipal government and local issues. Candidates will be required to attend a Special Council meeting to be held on Monday April 25, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Submitted applications will be subject to review and consideration at this public meeting of Council. Loving wife of the late Clarence Edward Allin in 2010. Lovingly remember by her son Larry, daughter Janice, son in-law Rob and proud grandmother of "Kendra" Leah and boyfriend Shane Lipsit-Fraser. Survived by her sisters and brothers the late (Elsie) and Bill Hardy, the late (Margaret) and Lloyd Brindley, late infant sister (Ester), the late (Mary) and Lorne Hasty, (Wes) and Kay Nivins, (Alex) and the late Beatrice Nivins, the late (Betty) and Dave Sproul, (June) and the late Murray Rourke, (Isabelle) and the late Frank Doherty, the late (Grace) and Dougall Clutton. (Elma) and Leonard Jenkins. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mom enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, attending the theatre, playing euchre, knitting and spending time with family and friends. In her early year's mom worked diligently on the farm and loved her Sunday pony cart rides. Visitation was held at McCALLUM & PALLA FUNERAL HOME, Goderich on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. NEWINGTON, Patrick - Passed away early Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016, at Seaforth Community Hospital, having just turned 84 years of age. Beloved husband of Brenda for the past 62 years, and father of Anne Newington (Frank Cameron) of Clinton and Brian Newington (Lori) of Baden, Ontario. Patrick is survived by three brothers, Donald (Ruth), Percy (Joan), and Reginald, all of Ontario, and sister-in-law Bess Newington (Bill) of Mississauga, and predeceased by brother Morgan (Joan) of Alberta Patrick was a proud grandfather of three - Lindsay, Brandon, and Alex - and very proud great-grandfather of Keiran, Jovi, and Skyler. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Patrick moved to Clinton in 1971 to manage the Wildex factory. He returned to Clinton after his retirement to spend his final years. Pat and Brenda have lived at the Seaforth Manor for the past few years. Visitation was held at FALCONER FUNERAL HOME in Clinton on Friday, April 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral was on Saturday, April 2 at the Falconer Funeral Home. SPANO, Marjorie - At Huronview Home, Clinton on Thursday, March 31, 2016 Marjorie Spano nee Almey, formerly of London in her 97th year. Born in Kegworth, England in 1919, she emigrated with her family, arriving in Canada in July of 1920. Beloved wife of the late Squadron Leader (rtd.) Joseph Anthony Spano (1989). Loving mother of Lorraine Corrie & John Kassies, and Robert Spano, all of Clinton. Remembered by her son-in-law Dr. Michael Brennan of Victoria, B.C. Cherished grandmother of Kristine & Frank Snell, Jeffery & Kalen Corrie, Michael & Deborah Corrie, Robin & Keith Wybrow, Erin & James Kawalecki and great-grandmother of David, Cassandra, Lauren, Madeline, Joseph, Theodore, Jackson, Zoe, and Devon. Dear sister of Brian & Irene Almey and John & Velma Almey. Predeceased by her daughter Dr. Linda Joan Spano (Brennan) and 7 siblings. Special thanks to all staff at Huronview. The dedication to your work and compassion towards the needs of residents is truly remarkable. Marjorie was a steadfast, resilient, and well liked woman who loved being outdoors and had a great passion for gardening. She spent many winters in Florida, made friends easily wherever she went and was very involved in community activities. At Marjorie's request cremation has taken place.
