- 'No Egg Payment This Year:
Next Year Likely -.— The Stab-
ilization Board has announced
that the average price of egg
producers last year (October,
1962, to September, 1963) was
36.8 cents a dozen (A Large).
With the support price set at 34
cents a dozen, there will be no
deficiency payment for this
period, the Board said.
On price support for 1963-64,
the Cabinet has not yet approv-
ed the support level for eggs.
But it is expected to be the
same as last year's 34 cents.
Indications now are that egg
prices will drop well below this
34 -cent level by next spring.
Heavy placements of pullet
chicks in the last four months
promise to boost egg produc-

tion by next April well above
1963. This is likely to push
egg prices down enough to stop
imports of breaking eggs. This
would put the national average
price down to 29c or 30c, in
other words, 4c to 5c below
the support level for eggs. Such
prices could rule for most of
the summer on present egg
prospects.
Butter Output Down
Outlook for dairy products
continues to improve. Butter
production In October at 30.1
million pounds, was 2.4 million
below October 1962. Stocks of
butter on November 1 were
162.0 million pounds, only 4.2
million above last year. Pro-
spects, are that, by the end of
1963, butter stocks will be no
higher than a year earlier. To-
tal butter production for 1963
is expected to be 350 million
pounds, down 15' million from
1962. Butter consumption is
expected to reach 345 to 350
million pounds.
No butter has been converted
to oil for over a year. This
year's buying and selling turn-
over of butter by the govern-
ment has not replaced much of
its old butter with fresh pro-
duction, so more conversion to
oil may be expected.
Meanwhile, progress is being
made in selling present govern-
ment stocks of butter oil (81
million pounds of oil has been
sold at around 27c a pound).
Agriculture Minister Hays has
said that disposal of this oil
will be pushed, so expect gov-
ernment oil stocks to be reduc-
ed rapidly.
The pressure on skim milk
powder seems to be past also.
Production of powder in Octo-
ber was down, paralleling the
decline' in butter output. Gov-
ernment powder stocks are li-
quidated except for about five
million pounds. This may need
to go on the domestic market
soon to prevent speculative pric-
ing.
LEGION CORNER
By JACK HOLLAND
Well, comrades and friends,
just a few lines to let you know
of the coming events.
First of all, and thiis for
the executive, the meeting is
this Thursday at 8:30, in case
you missed your card.
One thing this town can be
justly proud of and that is the
annual Santa Claus parade,
which seems to be getting big-
ger by the year, and from -ob-
servation of other municipali-
ties, efforts towards this, Sea -
forth certainly does not have
to take a back seat from -any-
body, and this applies to other
centres much larger than ours.
Congratulations to all who made
this such an ,outstanding suc-
cess. The Legion Ladies' Aux-
iliary made up a lunch for a
party of approximately 30 of
the senior citizens from Huron -
view, who, thanks to the Cham-
ber of Commerce, were brought
down from Clinton to watch the
parade—a very nice gesture
from both organizations.
The Legion Branch is hold-
ing their annual turkey bingo
on Saturday evening, Dec. 14.
Keep this date in mind so you
can pick up your Christmas bird.
Come early, as there's always
a big crowd for this one.
A word before closing: It is
with deep regret that our big
neigbor to the south lost their
fine President. I do believe that
the world lost a great leader
and a man with a definite pur-
pose in policy regardless of
race, creed or color. As a vet-
eran, we all mourn his passing.
He had a most outstanding war
record on torpedo boats in th"e
South Pacific, and as the leader
of the most powerful nation on
earth, his passing will have a
definite effect on the rest of
the free world as we know it
today.
"At the going down of the
sun, and in the morning, we
will remember HIM."
DUBLIN COLLEENS MEET
The Dublin Colleens No. 1
met at the home of Mrs. Wells.
The Colleens collected 80 cents
at the last meeting and now
have $11.98 in the treasury.
Record book covers were dis-
cussed and while some mem-
bers worked on their book cov-
ers, others worked at the sew-
ing machine, continuing with
blouses. Most of the blouses are
complete, except for the buttons
and buttonholes.
