The Huron Expositor, 1963-11-28, Page 17WALTON NEVUS The regular monthly meeting of the 17th and Boundary Unit UCW of Duff's United Church, Walton, was held at the home of Mrs. Clifford Ritchie with 17 tuembers answering the roll call. Mrs. George Williamson presid- ed and opened with a call to worship. Hymn 285 was sung and Mrs. Ross Bennett read the scripture from Isaiah 25. Prayer was offered by Mrs. William Murray. Mrs. George William- son gave a reading. The topic from the study book was taken ,by Mrs. Albert Clarke, and the business was conducted. Officers for the new term are as follows: Leader, Mrs. Clif- ford Ritchie; assistant leader, Mrs. George Williamson; secre- tary, Mrs. Martin Baan. The Christmas meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. Jan Van Vliet, Sr. Mrs. Hugh Johnston gave a reading, and the meeting was closed with the singing of Hymn 325 and OF THE 'WEEK' prayer. Lunch was served by the hostess and the lunch com- mittee. George Vivian. The girls spent the afternoon working on their blouses. Mrs. Parsons discussed the trimming of seams, understitclt- ing and stitching with the grain. She explained a true bias was a square piece of material with two straight ends. To get the bias, fold the material diagon- ally so that the salvage is par- allel to the crosswise grain. Mrs. George Vivian attended the recent Women's Institute convention in London, repres- enting Perth County on a panel discussion on "Why Be a 4H Homemaking Club Member," with a mother from Middlesex County. and Huron Home Econo- mist. The silo, '75 feet high by 25 feet in diameter, holds over 1,000 tons of ensilage.
