Brussels, for the marriage of
Miss Carolyn Anne Brant and
Robert Kenneth Thornton. The
bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Brant, Dublin, and
the bridegroom is a son of Mr.
and Mrs., George Thornton, of
Brussels.

wore dresses of mint -green ray-
on organza and white corsages.
Haley Boyd, Mitchell, was the
best man, and Arthur Weiler,
Toronto, ushered.
A reception was held at the
home of the bride's aunt, Mrs.
Jack Brant, Listowel, where the
bride's table was decorated with
pink candles, red roses and a
three -tiered wedding cake.
Guests were from Brussels,
Woodstock, Mitchell, Dublin,
Toronto and Stratford. The cou-
ple will live at Dublin.

The McKillop Unit of the U
C W held. their November meet-
ing in the school room of Duff's
United Church, Walton, Wed-
nesday afternoon with 14 mem-
bers present. Mrs. William Den-
nis opened the meeting with the
hymn, "0 God, Our Help in
Ages Past," with Mrs. Campbell
Wey as pianist. Prayer was of-
fered by Mrs. Glen McNichol.
Mrs. W. J. Leeming read the
scripture passage from II Tim-
othy 4:1-8, and followed with
Meditation. Mrs. Campbell Wey
gave a reading entitled, "As
You Were."
The topic from the last chap-
ter in the study book, "The Rim
of Asia," was given by Mrs.
George Love. A poem, "Mother
on the Sidewalk," by Edgar
Guest, was read by Mrs. Glen
McNichol.
Mrs. Roy Wildfong's side won
the copper contest.
A nominating committee was
appointed as follows: Mrs. An-
drew Coutts, Mrs. William Roe
and Mrs. Merton Hackwell.
The meeting closed with the
hymn. "Zion's King Shall Reign
Victorious," and the Lord's
Prayer repeated in unison.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
William Roe, Mrs. Don- Dennis
and Mrs. Murray Dennis.
Walton Unit
Mrs. Rae Huether presided
for the worship period at the
November UCW meeting of the
Walton Unit last Wednesday
evening in Duff's • United
Church. The hymn, "Onward!
Christian Soldiers," was sung,
with Harvey Brown at the piano.
Mrs. Huether gave a reading on
"Remembrance Day," after
which the Scripture lesson,
Psalm 46, was read responsive-
ly. Comments on the scripture
were given by Mrs. D. Ennis.
Prayer was offered and the
hymn, "Land of Our Birth," was
sung. Mrs. Nelson Reid, who
was in charge of the topic, gave
a fitting climax to the study
book of the year, "The Rim of
Asia."
Mrs. Herb Traviss gave the
minutes of the October meeting
and called the roll, which was
answered with a verse contain-
ing the word "Peace."
Mrs. A. Higginbotham gave

lan Searle, gave their reports,
with Mrs. Sholdice as the win-
ner; $270.00 was realized dur-
ing the year from these collec-
tions. The losing leader, Mrs.
Allan Searle, and her side, de
cided to have a pot -luck supper
Dec. 4, to be held in the church
basement.

Has 94th Birthday
Miss Mary Mowbray celebrat-
ed her 94th birthday last Fri-
day. Mrs. Maud Leeming serv-
ed a birthday dinner to Mrs.
Mowbray, Mrs. Hattie Glenn of
Toronto, and Mrs. John Linton
of Windsor, honoring Miss Mow-
bray. During the afternoon Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Rowe, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert McLaren and Mrs.
Ed Glenn, all of Hensall, called
to offer congratulations.
Mr. Fred Culbert is at pres-
ent at his home in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Rutledge
and family, London, were week-
end visitors with the Hum-
phries families.
Mrs. David Watson visited
last week with her daughter,
Mrs. Robert Pritchard, and Mr.
Pritchard, Toronto.
Miss Norma Leeming has ac-
cepted a pdsition with the Lon-
don Public Library Board and
will be on the staff of the Byr-
on Memorial Branch Library.
Misses Betty Hoegy, Listowel,
aid Norma Hoegy, Kitchener,
were weekend visitors at the
home of their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Hoegy.
Mr. Jack Gordon has return-
ed home after being confined to
Listowel Hospital.
Mrs. Wilbur Turnbull is
spending several weeks with
her daughters, Mrs. George Hab-
kirk, Ingersoll, and Mrs Doug-
las Lawless, Burlington
Mr. and Mrs. Ranton Mitchell
visited Sunday with the for-
mer's sister, Mrs. Leonard Leem-
ing and Mr. Leeming.
Mrs. George Jackson is a pa-
tient in Listowel Hospital at
present.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rit-
chie and Larry, of Egmondville,
visited on Sunday with Mrs.
Fred Ennis.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Leeming
and family of St. Marys visit-
ed with the former's parents,

The regular meeting of Grey
Township School Area No. 2
was held at the home of Don
McDonald. The chairman was
instructed to contact Mrs. Mof-
fat and ask her if she would
agree to be the music super-
visor in the Walton Public
School. i

Given in marriage by her
father, the bride choose a floor-
length gown with three-quarter
length sleeves and scoop neck-
line, trimmed with seed pearls.
Her bouffant veil was held in
place by a crystal crown. She
carried a cascade of red roses
and white mums.
The maid of honor, Miss Mar-
ion Aubin, was gowned in a
street -length dress of peacock
peau de soie with pleated skirt.
She wore a wedding band head-
dress and carried a basket of
Orange Delight roses and yel-
low mums. The bridesmaids
were Misses Dorothy and Mary
The groom was attended by
his brother, Ross Coutts, and
ushers were Donald Coutts,
brother of the groom, and Laur-
ence 'Peart, brother of the
bride.
For a reception: at the home
of the bride's parents, the
bride's mother chose a beige
double knit dress with corsage
of Orange Delight roses. The
groom's mother wore a dress of
gold taffeta with similar flow-
ers.
For travelling, the bride wore
a cranberry wool shift dress
with black accessories and a
grey laminated coat. A corsage
of white carnations completed
her ensemble. They will reside
in Hespeler.
Guests were present from Sea -
forth, Strathroy, London, Ot-
tawa, Waterford, Princeton,
Brantford and Paris.
The groom is a student at
Waterloo College, and the bride
is a graduate of Freeport Sani-
torium as a registered nurses'
assistant.
CONSTANCE NEWS OF THE WEEK
Constance UCW held their
regular meeting in the church
on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Mrs.
Don Buchanan, president, open-
ed the meeting by the call to
worship, "Praise the Lord For
His Providence," The hymn,
"All Hail the Power of Jesus'
Name" was sung after the
Lord's Prayer was repeated in
unison. Scripture lesson, taken
from Matthew 6:25-34, and
Meditation were read by Mrs.
George Mcllwain. Mrs. Ross
MacGregor gave the report on
the regional meeting held in
Bayfield on October 8th. The
hymn, "0 God of Love," was
sung.
Mrs. W. L. Whyte gave the
study book on the chapter,
"God and Evil of the Word and
the Way." Mrs. Don Buchanan
closed the worship period with
prayer. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and approv-
ed. Mrs. F. Riley gave the re-
port on the bale sent to the
Fred Victor Mission in Toron-
to, also a report of the social
committee. The UCW gave three
blankets to Mr, and Mrs. Har-
vey McClure, fire victims of the
past month. After other busi-
ness was discussed, Mrs. Ken
Preszcator gave the report of
the officers for the coming year,

STAFFA
Hibbert's Little Lassies, Staf-
fa East, held the fifth meeting
of their homemaking club,
"What Shall I Wear," on Sat-
urday at the home of their lead-
er, Mrs. Gordon Parsons. Mrs.
Parsons explained the basic
rules to follow when cutting out
their blouses, how to place their
patterns on the material, bow
to pin, and how to mark the
darts, etc., properly. The re-
mainder of the afternoon was
spent in cutting out their blous-
es.
Meeting six was also held at
Mrs. Parson's home and was a
work meeting with the girls
all working on their blouses.
Mrs. Parsons explained that
their blouses should fit properly
with proper freedom for move-
ment. The material should lay
smoothly4over the shoulders and
chest, with no appearance of
strain or tightness.
Eric Norris, OAC, Guelph,
spent the weekend with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Norris.
