Mrs: William Bell, president
of Kippen East Women's Insti-
tute, opened the health meet-
ing held at SS 9, Tuckersmith,
on Wednesday, June 20, with
22 members answering the roll
call giving "a cure for insom-
nia." Mrs. Robert Bell and Mrs.
William Caldwell gave the re-
ports of the district annual. A
poem, "Summer Came Softly,"
donated by Mrs. Campbell Eyre,
was read by Mrs. William Kyle.
Mrs. Robert Gemmell presid-
ed for the program, which op-
ened with an accordian selec-
tion by William Gibson,. ac-
companied by Jack Caldwell at
the piano. Rev. H. Donaldson,
of Seaforth, showed two films,
"Breast Cancer" and "Time and

gave many i iteresting figures
which amazed most of the
members. He gave many sympi
toms to watch for, and suggest-
ed everypne have a physical
check-up once a year at least.
He also explained what to do
for a compound fracture, burns,
poisoning, nose.bleeds, and
many other causes of bleeding.
Mrs. Ken McKay read a hum-
orous poem. Mrs. Ross Chap-
man conducted a contest, and
Mrs. Ken McKay gave courtesy
remarks.
Mrs. Vivan Cooper and Mrs.
Jack Consitt were hostesses,
and helped the lunch commit-
tee, Mrs. William Kyle, Miss
Margaret McKay, Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot and Mrs. Verne Al-
derdice serve lunch.
Hensall Church
Will Induct
New Minister
Thursday, June 28, at 8 p.m.,
Rev. Harold F. Currie, of Ham-
ilton, will be inducted as mini-
ster. of Hensall and Chiselhurst
churches. Rev. H. C. Wilson,
Thames Road, and Rev. S. E.
Lewis, Exeter, will be the in-
duction commission. The induc-
tion will take place at Hensall
United Church. Huron Presby-
tery of the United Church is
arranging the induction. Rev.
Currie's duties will commence
Sunday, July 1.

Mrs. Pearcy .Graham,_ of Clin-
ton, visited with friends in the
village on Wednesday last and

United Church on Wednesday,
June 20, and enjoyed meeting

Miss Ann Mickle received
word on Monday of this week
from the Royal Conservatory of
Music of Toronto, that she had
passed her grade two theory
with first-class honors, obtain-
ing 97 marks. Ann is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Mickle, and is a pupil of Miss
Greta-Lammie.
Steve Kay and Lee randall,
of St. Catharines, visited with
Herb. Hedden last week.
Miss Greta Lammie, organist
of Hensall United Church for
over 20 years and who recently
resigned that position, was hon-
ored by ,members of the choir.
Mrs. Harry Horton, president of
the choir, and Mr. Horton, call-
ed at the home of Miss Lammie
on Thursday night, June 21st,
and presented her with an orlon
tuxedo jacket on behalf of the
choir. .
Mrs. Ruth Bell ,who has spent
the winter months with 'mem-
bers of her family at Alamo,
California, returned home Sat-
urday by jet, accompanied by
her niece, Mrs. William (Vir-
ginia) Barnhart, who will re-
main for a few weeks.
Union services with the con-
gregation of Carmel Presbyter-
ian Church begin this Sunday,

tinue for the month of July.

Brown, soloist. Splendid con-
gregations attended the serv-
ices.
Gifts by the Young People's
Society and the junior choir
were presented to Mrs. Currie
Winlaw at the church last Wed-
nesday evening, and the YPS
also presented a new vacuum
cleaner to the 'church.
Mrs. Ross MacDonald attend-
ed the Presbyterian .camp at
Kintail"' at the WMS Retreat
over the weekend.
Miss Jane Horton has been
named recipient of the Univers-
ity of Western Ontario award
for second -year honors. French
and Latin. She is the daughter
of Mr. and Mts. Bert Horton,
of Hensall.

At Amber Rebekah Lodge

the lodge picnic will be held
at the Chipchase cottage, Nor -

held a picnic and sports day at
Camp Kintail, Wednesday, June
27, afternoon and evening, with

dent in charge.

a month's vacation at Brock-
ville and Glasgow, N.S. Mrs.

Hold Successful Supper
Members of Units 1 and 5 of
the United Church Women were,
very pleased with the success
of their turkey, ham and straw-
berry supper Wednesday eve-
ning. Over 300 partook of the
delicious supper, which had all
the trimmings. Seventy-one
dinners were taken out and de-
livered. It is expected that
when expenses are deducted
that each unit will have ap-
proximately over 8126.00 each.
