the piano. Nellie Baan read,the
Call to Worship, "Praise the
Lord, Sing to the Lord a New
Song." Mrs. Rae Huether talk-
ed about church buildings, their
building and different types.
Bruce Clark read the scripture
from Exodus 40:18 and I. Kings
5:5, telling about building hous-
es of worship in Bible times.
Larry Walters led in prayer.
Sherrill Craig and Karen Coutts
collected the ." offering. Velma
Higginbotham' read the minutes
of the last meeting. Nellie Baan
conducted the business.
The children went to their

' Unit 3 of the United Church
Women of Northside United
Church held their June meet-
ing at the summer home of Mrs.
E. C. Chamberlain at Bayfield.
At 6:30 the members and visi-
tors sat down to a pot -luck sup-
per.
Mrs. J. „Talbot opened the
meeting with a poem, "Remedy
For the Blues." Routine busi-
ness was conducted by the pres-
ident when final plans were
made' for the strawberry and
ham supper, and tickets were
'given to the members for sale.
There will be a general meet-
ing of the UCW on June 26, at
8- p.m. Mrs. J. C. Cochrane
gave a report of the first re-
gional conference held in Lon-
desboro.
Mrs. H. Traviss conducted the
devotional part of the meeting.
Mrs. Thomas Wilbee read the
scripture lesson and Mrs. Tra-
yiss led in prayer. Miss Annette
Sinclair Was guest speaker and
spoke on her trip to Florida
last winter, accompanying nee
talk with pictures. Courtesy re-
marks were given by Mrs.
Traviss.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ellig-
sen were on a trip up north
recently.
Andrew B. McLachlan, 87, of
Cromarty, died Saturday at his
home. Married in 1911 to the
former Caroline Scott, he was
the last member of a family of
•nine.
Educated in Hibbert Town-
ship, he was, a farmer and car-
penter, arid a member of Crom-
arty Presbyterian Church. He
was the first president of the
Hibbert Township Co-operative
Dairy.
He is survived by one deugh-
ter, Mrs.' Carter (Grace) Kers-
lake, Hibbert Township, and
three grandchildren.
The body rested at his late
residence when service was held
Tuesday at 2 p.m., with Rev.
John Boyne, of Exeter, officiat-
ing. Interment was in Staffa,
cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Mc-
Lachlan, William McLachlan,
Thomas Laing, William Routley,
Ernest Allan and James Scott.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prit-
chard and family, Toronto, and
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Maier, of
London, were weekend guests
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
David Watson.
Mr. and Mrs. William Turn-
bull attended the Golden Horse-
shoe Lions convention at Ham-
ilton Sunday, Monday and Tues-
day of last week.
Miss Muriel Schade, Reg.N.,
of Guelph, spent a few days
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Schade.
An auction sale of household
effects with Mr. Hugh Campbell
as proprietor, was held Satur-
day evening with a large crowd
attending. Mr. Campbell has dis-
posed of his residence and pro-
perty to Mr. Ernest Stevens.
Mr. Kenneth Ryan, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Ryan,' has been
transferred from Sutton to Kirk-
land Lake, where he has been
promoted to assistant manager
for the Beaver Lumber' Com-
pany.
Mr. and Mrs. Elias Kastenuik
have returned home from a
motor trip to Manitoba and Sas-
katchewan.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hibbert
and family have moved to Mr.
Harvey Craig's farm on the
boundary east of the village.
Miss Ruth Ennis left on Wed-
nesday by train for Lethbridge,
Alta., where she will visit with
her uncle and aunt, Mr, and
Mrs. Edwin C. Miller, for the
next three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Cunning-
ham, Karen and Rickey, of
Ethel, visited with Mrs. Fred
Ennis on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Yuill, of
Brussels, and Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Bewley, Mary and Bren-
da, spent Sunday at Elora and
Kitchener, where they watched
the Highland Light Infantry
parade.
