Church Groups Meet
' Mrs. Emerson Mitchell pre-
sided at the Walton Unit meet-
ing last Wednesday evening at
the home of Mrs. Cecil Lydiatt.
The hymn, "All Hail the Power
of Jesus' Name" was sung, with
Mrs. Harvey Brown at the piano.
Mrs. P. McDonald read the
scripture, taken from Corinth-
ians, chapter 15:1-11, followed
by Meditation.
The topic, the third chapter
of Signals for the Sixties, "Col-
lapse and Recovery,", took the
form of a panel discussion, with
Mrs. Nelson Reid as leader, and
Mrs. Luella Marshall, Mrs. Tor-
rance Dundas, Mrs. Earl Wat-
son and Mrs. Jim Clark taking
part.
Prayer was given by Mrs.
Allan McCall. The roll call was
answered by reciting a line
with "hope" in it. Mrs. Ronald
Bennett'read.-they minutes of the
last meeting and Mrs:' R. Achil-
les gave a very gratifying re-
port of the bazaar, which show-
ed a"balance of $212.66. Meet-
ings of interest in"April are as
follows: Blyth, Easter Rally,
April 15; at -7:30 p.m.; Seaforth
Presbyterian, April '24, at 3:00
p.m.; Brussels Anglican Tea,
April 26, '3-5 p.m.; buff's, Wal-
ton, April 30, at 8:30 p.m., each
member to take 'a few tarts.
Anyone wanting a subscrip-
tion for the magazine, "Chris,
tian Herne," should get"in touch
with Mrs. Nelson Reid. Any old
nylons, print patches, scrap-
books, etc., will be accepted for
Huronview, and may be placed
in a box at the church. The
.group decided to buy five scrap-
books and give them to Huron -
view.
A discussion of ways and
means of serving at the Thank -
offering was brought up and a
committee of Mrs. G. Watson,
Mrs. H. Brown and Mrs. N.
Marks were left in charge.
"Charity" will be used for
the roll call next month•. The
worship period was in charge
of. Mrs. A. McCall, taking as
her theme, "Isaac." Mrs. N.
Read read an Easter story,
"Jungle Easter." The hymn,
"Saviour, Blessed Saviour," was
sung and the meeting closed by
repeating the Lor'd's Prayer .in
unison. Lunch was served by
the hostesses, Mrs. George Hib-
bert and Mrs. W. C. Hackwell.
McKillop Unit
The April meeting of the Mc-
Killop Unit was held at the
home of Mrs. Jack Bosman last
Wednesday evening with 15
ladies. present. 'The =Resurreetion
story was read by Mrs. Gordon

ing, after which the hymn,
"There is a Green Hill Far
Away," was Sung with Mrs.
Campbell Wey at ,the piano.
Mrs. Merton Hackwell read
the Easter story from Mark 16:
1-8. Mrs. G. McGavin gave a
reading on "Holy Week" and
offered prayer. The Scripture
passage was read by Mrs. Nor-.
man Schade from Ephesians 6:
1-4 and 6. The topic, "Signals
For the Sixties," was in charge
of Mrs. C. Wey, followed by a
discussion period.
Reports were read and busi-
ness conducted. A sale of bak-
ing and plants will be held at

A delicious lunch was served by
the hostesses, Mrs. Leonard
Leeming and Mrs. David Wat-
son.
Messengers Meet
The April meeting of the Mes-
sengers was held in the church
school room Sunday morning
with the president, Carol Wil -
bee presiding, and Mary Bew-
ley at the piano, with an atten-
dance of 46.
The hymn, ``Tell Me the Stor-
ies, of Jesus" was sung, after
which all repeated the Mem-
bers' Purpose. The hymn,
"Mothers of Salem," was follow-
ed with the Scripture reading by
Sandra Watson from Luke 16:
15,Mrs. W. Bewley • discussed
missionaries and their duties,
then asked each class to make
a list of qualifications of a mis-
sionary.
The °work of the mission boat,
"Thomas Crosby," was discuss-
ed, also work. --being done at
Norway 'House in Northern On-
tario. Linda Traviss led in
prayer. Sherrill Craig and Kar-
en McDonald collected and pre-
sented the offering and mite
boxes. Carol dedicated. the of-
fering with prayer. Sherrill gave
the treasurer's report, showing
$12.76 on hand. Velma Higgin-
botham read 'the minutes of
the last meeting. Carol Sherrill
conducted the business. April
29 will be the service of Dedi-
cation to Missions, when the
money from the mite boxes will
be presented and dedicated dur-
ing the church service.
The members decided to use
the money on hand from gen-
eral offerings to pay for their
World Friends magazine. This
had been done by the WMS.
Mary Leeming will play . the
piano, and Bruce Clark and
Larry Walters will read the
Scripture and lead in prayer for
the May meeting.
Children went to classes with
the following teachers: Mrs.
Stewart McCall, Mrs. Nelson
Marks, Mrs. Roy Williamson and
Mrs. W. Bewley. Each class
brought back .their reports on
what they thought a missionary
should be like. The hymn, "The
Wise: May Bring Their Learn-
ing,"/ was sung as the closing
hymh, after which the Mizpah
benediction was repeated.
Official Visits
Hensall Lodge
Mrs. Ethel McPherson, of
Clinton, District Deputy' Presi-
dent, paid her official visit to
Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hen-
sall, Wednesday, April 18, and
was presented a corsage.
For the meeting' presided ov-
er by Moble Grand Mrs, R. A.
Orr, $10.00 was donated to the
cancer fund. The group accept-
ed' an invitation to Seaforth
Lodge May+ 10, for their 50th-

Delegates were welcomed by
the 'rally leader, Mrs. E. A. Des -
Jardine. Bonnie Allen and Ruth
Michie reported on Camp Coun-
cil, and Mrs. A. • Taylor con-
ducted a panel on "Full-time
Service,".
During the morning Session
slides were . shown by Miss
Audrey Finkbeiner, missionary
home on furlough from St.
Lucia in the West Indies.
Following lunch, Miss Ruth
Griffin led a sing -song and
spoke on Camp Cigita.
The girls then divided into
groups for discussion under the
following leaders: Bible study,
Mrs. Grant Mills; teen talk,
Mrs. B. Fletcher; vocations,
Miss E. McTavish; games, Miss
D. Stanley; worship,. Mrs. Em-
ery ' Depardine; singsong, Miss
Ruth MiO.h ie; drama, Miss Gwen
Whilsmith; crafts, Mrs. Jack
Doerr; programming, Mrs. E.
McCreath; leaders, Mrs. An-
derson.
At the end of the rally a grad-
uation for 29 girls was held
under the leadership of Mrs. R.
Hiltz. Rev. J. H. Vardy, of Eg-
mondville, chairman of Chris-
tian Education, was -chairman.
Ruth Ritchie was valedictorian
and music was provided by the
Grand Bend group. Miss Linda
Miller accompanied the soloist,
Gloria Adams, and a quartette
consisting of Joanne DesJar-
dine, Neva Johnson, Deborah
Thomas and MaryLynne Ken-
nedy.
Mrs. Isobel Pike, of Ilderton,
was guest speaker.

Reid forwarded $2.32 to the

on Saturday last. The two 'lit-

and sold them from door to
door, selling them at 5 and 10
cents each. They received a
nice response from the people.
Earl McRae, of Ottawa, spent
Easter with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William McRae.

daughter and son-in-law, Rev.

Award Fellowship
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love, RR
2, Hensall, received word last
week that their son, Robert,
who is in his second year at
Stanford University, Palo Alto,
California, studying for his
Ph.D. Degree, has been award-
ed a fellowship, valued at
$3,000.00. This is the second
fellowship he 'has received from
Stanford, as last year he was
awarded one valued at $800.
Robert received his BASc. de-
gree. at University of Toronto
and his M.B.A. degree at West-
ern University, London.
