ated as nurses last week, Miss
Smith from the St. Marys Scho01
of Nursing, and Miss McGonigle
from St. Marys Hospital.

Ray McKinnon, an employee
of Fink's Plumbing, Hensall, is
in Victoria Hospital, London,
with third degree burns to his
neck, arms and hands. He was
severely burned in a flash fire
at Point Clark when paint fumes
in the Fink summer cottage ig-
nited.
Tuckersmith tackled the dog
problem at the Tuesday meet-
ing of council and named Mur-
ray Dalton as animal control
officer.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee McConnell,
Varna, celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary. Mr. and
Mrs. John McConnell and Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Talbot gave a
dinner party to honor their par-
ents at the Little Inriq Bayfield.
Mr, • and Mrs. Clendon Chris-
tie, Hensall, were entertained
at a family dinner on the occa-
sion of their 25th wedding an-
niversary, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. William T. Dodds, Mc-
Killop.
Huron Presbytery of the Unit-
ed Church of Canada, meeting
at Centralia, elected Rev. Ar-
thur Higginbotham, Walton, as
chairman for 1965-66.

The 53rd anniversary of Ed-
elweiss Rebekah Lodge was ob-
served at the regular meeting,
when Past Noble Grands held
office and conducted the meet-
ing. On behalf of the lodge,
Mrs. Malcolm presented the
regular Noble Grand, Mrs. Wil-
mer Cuthill, with a gift.
Douglas Jamieson, who has
been appointed to the staff of
t h e Kemptville Agricultural
School, is also doing research in
preparation for his master's de-
gree. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold Jamieson, Hullett.
The COF ladies' bowling team
held their annual banquet in the
Kinburn Hall. Officers elected
were: president, Anna Dolmage;
secretary, Amy Horne; treasur-
er, Mary Riley; captains, Geor-
gina Bosman 'and Joyce Mc-
Clure.
Members of the board of Sea -
forth Public School recognized
a teaching career extending ov-
er 45 years, when they present-
ed Miss M. E. Turnbull with a
pair of inscribed bookends.
Seaforth firemen answered
two alarms when a car and a
tractor were damaged by flames.
Roy McGonigle was cutting
grass at the Lions Park when
the tractor he was using burst
into flames. Shortly after, the
firemen were called to Staffa,
when a ear owned by a Hensall
garage, caught fire as it was
being driven into the village.

Seaforth Lions Park was
crowded Friday evening when
Seaforth merchants presented a
fireworks display. As a feature
of the Friday event, a number
of stores offered special prizes
to Friday night stoppers. Win-
ners were: Read's Shoes, Mary
McKenzie, Cromarty; Smith's
Grocery, Miss Mae Smith; Sills'
Hardware, Alvin Hoff; Eve -Mar,
Mrs, William J. Leeming.

Friends and neighbors honor-
ed, Miss Brenda Ross with a mis-
cellaneous shower at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs,
Wallace Ross.
Donald H. Scott, Q.C., has
been appointed crown attorney
for Welland County, succeeding
the late T. F. Forestell. He is
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs+
Harry Scott, Seaforth.
Isaac McGavin, of Kilbarchan
Nursing Home, celebrated his
93rd birthday.
Father C. E. Sullivan, who
has been pastor of St. James'
parish here since 1958, has been
moved to St. Ursula, Chatham.
Friends of Mrs. Alex Camp-
bell gathered at her home on
High St. to celebrate her 96th
birthday. She enjoys good
health.

RR 1, Seaforth, graduated from
Kitchener - Waterloo Hospital
School of Nursing on Saturday.
Mr. John M. Scott, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James M. Scott, is a
1965 honor graduate in the Fine
Arts Course from the Univers-
ity of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lamont, of
Zurich, celebrated their fiftieth
wedding anniversary at their
home.
Britannia Lodge marked the
100th anniversary of the lodge.
Rev. J. C. Britton prepared a
history of the lodge, recalling
the highlights of the past 100
years.

Church, Winthrop, to honor
Miss Joan Boyd, bride -elect of
this month. An appropriate ad-
dress was read by Faye Little,
and Joan was presented with
many useful gifts.
Nearly four miles of copper
telephone wire on poles be-
tween Seaforth and Clinton has
disappeared. Officials believe
that thieves climbed the poles
and removed the wire for its
scrap value.
Huronview Board reported to
Huron county council after a
visit by all hands to the site,
that it was hoped to have ten-
ders in by February for the
new 75 -bed addition.
Professor Ernest G. Clarke
will take part in the Royal On-
tario Museum excavation during
July and August. He is a son
of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Clarke,
Seaforth.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Arm-
strong, of Constance, were hon-
ored at a family dinner held
at the home of their daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Neil Hopper.
