Marks Anniversary went
Mr. and Mrs.- Eldon Jarrott,
• of Brucefield, celebrated their
30th wedding anniversary Fri-
day, and a surprise family din-
ner was held at the Dominion
Hotel, Zurich, in their honor.
Attending the celebration
were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Haist, Crediton; Mr. and Mrs.
�► Don Brunzlow, Exeter; Mrs.
Elizabeth Anderson, Brucefield.
After dinner they were sur-
prised with a get-together of
the relatives, held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Don Brunzlow,
Exeter. An enjoyable evening
of progressive euchre followed,
• with the presentation of gifts
and lunch.
Sunday morning, Mr. Douglas
Codling, B.A., was in charge of
the service at Carmel Presby-
terian . Church, and for his
theme chose td speak on "Long-
ing For God."
'Mrs. Alex Mousseau has re-
turned home after spending a
week with Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Pupils Prepare
For Toronto Trip
Approximately 200 pupils
from grades 6, 7 and 8 'of Hen-
sall public school, Zurich pub-
lic school and Hay Township
schools, will take a bus trip to
Toronto June 25th, where they
will tour the museum, airpo
and Legislative buildings.
Beer, recuperating from an op-
eration she underwent in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mrs. Manley Jinks is a pa-
tient in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal, where she will be confined
for four weeks.
Timmy Mock, 10, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Mock, had the
misfortune to fracture. his right
arm Friday when he fell off his
bicycle.
Norman Shiels, of RR 3, God-
erich, spent Sunday with his
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Garnet Allan and fam-
ily.
Kinettes Mark
Birthdays
The regular .meeting of Hen-
sall Kinettes` was held at the
home of Mrs. Jack Drysdale
Wednesday evening, with. Mrs.
George Beer special 'guest. A
donation was made to the Men-
talHealth Society. Kinsmen
and Kinettes will visit Gode-
rich Hospital to entertain pa-
tients next Wednesday.
Following the meeting; court
whist was played, with Mrs.
Bob Caldwell high winner. Four
Kinette birthdays were cele -

Has Picnic
With ideal weather prevail-
ing, the annual picnic of Hen-
sall Women's Institute was held
on the lawns at the home of
Mrs. Garfield Broderick, Hen-
sall, Wednesday evening, with
a picnic supper, to 27 adults
and seven children.
At the CQpcluSion of supper,
a short business meeting was
held in charge of President les.
Beverly Beaton, when Mrs. R.
A. Orr gave. highlights of the
district annual at Zurich recent-
ly. Mrs. R. M. Peck, Mrs. Jas.
Bengough and Mrs. V. M. Py-
ette were appointed a commit-
tee. to arrange articles for the
exhibits at 'Exeter Fall Pair.
A full line of sports were en-
joyed under direction of Mrs
Wilbert billing and Mrs. Eliza-
beth Riley, and the winners
were: Putting balloon in bas-
ket, Mrs, Archie Noakes; girls'
race, Karen Broderick; boys'
race, Allan Reid; boys' shoe
scramble, Michael Davis; sperige
contest, Mrs. Robert EIgie's•
side; potato race, Mrs. Joe Fer-
guson's side; birthday closest
to day of picnic, Mrs. Thomas
Kyle, Sr.; button contest, Mrs.
Fred Beer; measuring contest,
Mrs. R. Elgie.
The hostess and sports corn-
mittee were' thanked by Mrs.
Elgie.
Plan Special
Anniversary
PIans were made for a UCW
anniversary on Sunday, July 11;
with Mrs. Arthur Jackson, Bel -
grave, guest speaker, when
Chisefhurst •UCW met Tuesday
evening. ' Fourteen members
and a visitor were .present.
Mrs. Clarence Coleman led
the worship on "Pentecost" and
Mrs. A. Ross gave the mission-
ary prayer. Mrs. T. Brintnell
spoke on the study book on
"The Cultures and Homes in
Trinidad." Mrs. It Taylor gave
two poems, "Our Old Quilting
Frames" and "Sunset.".
..Meetings will be withdrawn
during July and 'August. Presi-
dent Mrs. Harold Parker chair-
ed the meeting,' and hostesses
were Mrs. Lloyd Ferguson„ and
Mrs. Parker.
Mrs. Fred Broadley, of Mar-
lette, Mich., formerly of Hen-
sall, met with an unfortunate
accident at her home last week,
when her pet Spaniel dog bit
her around the mouth and lips,
the injuries requiring some 25
stitches: The accident' happen-
ed when Mrs. Broadley acci-
dently stepped pn the dog in
the dark, who was lying .on the
floor. The Broadley's took up
residence in Marlette in April
of this year. •

United Church for. the wedding
of Christena Emily Elliott and
Scott Albert LaRtie, on Satur-
day, June 12, at 3 p,m. Rev. J.
C. Britton officiated at the ••dou-
ble -ring ceremony. The, brideis
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Elliott, RR 5, Seaforth,
and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. LaRue, Halibur-
ton, Ont.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a , floor -
length gown of peau de soie
with. empire waistline and 'A'
line skirt. A panelled train
flowed from the back of the
Venice. Iace bodice. A pillbox
hat, appliqued with Venice lace,
held her fingertip' veil. A bou-
quet of yellow roses and Shas-
ta daisies with trials of ivy,
completed her ensemble.
The bride was attended by
Miss Gail Finlayson as maid of
honor, and bridesmaids were
Misses Helen Elliott and Mary
Elliott, sisters of the bride, and
Mrs. Sandra Whittaker, of To-
ronto. They wore similar floor -
length gowns of soft yellow
peau de glow, styled with the
empire line and 'A' line,skirts,
trimmed with Venice lac. They
carried crescent bouquets of
Shasta daisies and trailing ivy;
The flower girl was Miss
Heather McPherson.
The groomsman was Mr. Cur-
ry Whittaker of Toronto and
the guests were ushered by Mr.
Terry Barnum, Port"' Hope and
Mr. Len Salvatori and Mr. Tony
Salvatori, brothers of the
groom, Hallburton.
Mrs, James Stewart . was or-
ganist and accompanied the
soloist, Mrs. Neil Bell, as she
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and
"Wedding Prayer". •
The groom's gift to the bride
was a. double strand of pearls
and pearl tie tacks to the
groomsman and ushers......
A reception was held in the
Community Centre and guests
were received by the -bride's
mother, in an aqua blue street
length dress with matching
beaded lace jacket. A gardenia
corsage completed her en'sem='
ble. The groom's mother chose
a pink lace trimmed street
length gown and a corsage of
gardenias. -
For a wedding trip to the
Highlands of Haliburton, the
bride chose a two-piece orange
iee ensemble of Honore Beni-•
berg Silk, with white aceessor,
ies. A gardenia corsage com-
pleted her ensemble. Mr. and
Mrs. LaRue will reside in St.
Gervais, France.

day, where the groom is a pa-
tient, Rev. Harold F. Currie,
of • Hensall, united in:.marriage ,
Beatrice Ford, of Byron, for-
merly 'of Hensall, and Jack
Faber, of Hensall. The attend-
ants were Mr. -and Mrs. William
Sims, Exeter. -
The couple will reside on the
groom's farm, RR 1, .Hensall.

Tuckersmith Unit
UCW Has Meeting
The -Tuckersmith Unit of the
UCW; Brucefield United Church
met at the home of Mrs. Har-
old Lobb with an attendance
of 21 and one visitor. Miss M.
Swan opened the meeting with
a reading, "The ,Glorious Prom-
ise." Verses from John 15:1-9
were read, followed by prayer.
Mrs. G. Henderson and Mrs.
Gordon Richardson sang a -duet.
Mrs. John A. McEwen took the
topic. -"Women of the Bible,"
explaining the- life of Jesus'
mother, Mary. Miss Swan thank-
ed Mrs. McEwen and closed
this part of the meeting with
the hymn, "Three Serving Six."
The offering was taken by Mrs.
N.-Sillery and dedicated by Mrs.
J. Henderson.
Mrs. Henderson then took
the chair f')r the business part
of the meeting. The secretary's
report was given by Mrs. ,E.
Thompsonand the roll call an-
swered by a' name of one wo-
man pf the Bible: ' It was also
decided that the meetings
would be cancelled until Sep-
tember,. except the picnic at,
the summer home of Mrs. Ross
Scott in July.
An important part of the
meeting was the presentation
of a cup and saucer to Mrs.
Lobb and Mrs. Wilmer Broad -
foot. Mrs. J. Henderson read
the address and Mrs. John
Broadfoot presented the gifts.
Mrs, Lobb and Mrs. Broadfoot
thanked the unit and invited
them to their new honies' in
Clinton and Seaforth. ' •
Mrs. Henderson closed the
meeting with a poem. Mrs.
William -Holland showed pic-
tures of her recent trip to
Florida. Mrs. Lobb was than -
ed for the use of her home.
Lunch was served by the com-
mittee: Mrs. R. Scott, Mrs. J.
Henderson, Mrs. Edgar Stoll
and Mrs. A. Paterson.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hender-
son were guests of friends in
Kincardine over the weekend.
