to the surrounding community, and also the minimum wage
increase in our Bayfield office, the Commissioners have
found it necessary to make the following application. .
Application has been made to the Ontario Telephone
Service Commission for authority to make the following
monthly charges for telephone service.

The above rates for individual and two-party line ser•
vice will apply only within the Base Rate Area which is
defined as that area within the Village boundary.
If individual or two-party line service is required be-
yond the above limits, there will be an additional standard
extra exchange mileage charge of forty-five cents• a month
for each 1/4 mile or fraction thereof for an individual line,
and twenty-five cents a month for •ach 1/4 mile or fraction
thereof for each party on a two-party line.
Service may be furnished on a season basis for tem-
porary residents where the telephone company hag' the
necessary facilities available. This season service will be
suppliedfor a minimum of seven months, and the exchange
rate, service connection charge, and any construction arid
installation charges applicable, are payable in advance. If
the seasonal subscriber wishes to retain his telephone from
year to year a suspension of service charge of $1.00 per
month will apply during the months the telephone is not
in use, in -which case no re -connection charge is applicable.
Rate for supplementary service such as extension tele-
phones and bells, connection and moving telephones, 'etc.,
remain unchanged.
Registered subscribers of the system shall be entitled
to a discount of• twenty-five cents pel• month on the above
noted rates during any billing period when there are no
debentures outstanding, otherwise thin above rates shall
apply to all telephone users.
This application will be heard before the Commission
at its next regular meeting in Toronto. Any representa-
tions to be made to the Commission with respect to this
application should, therefore, be submitted on or before
the 24th day of August, 1964, and addressed to the Chair-
man, Ontario Telephone Service Commission, 7 Queen's
Park Crescent, Toronto, Ontario,

or by Letter.

The Wingers travelled to
Clinton on Monday to play the
third and deciding game in the
quarter finals. The Wingers
downed Clinton girls 13-0 un-
der the strong pitching power
of Cathy Achilles, and all-round
support of the team. Roba Doig
brought inthree runs for the
winners.

Winthrop and Walton Wing-
ers now advance. to the semi-
finals to play off with Brussels,
the first game to be played Fri-
day, Aug. 14,• in Brussels park
at 8:30, under the lights.
The W & W Wingers travel-
led •to Clinton Town on Tues-
day, Aug., 4, to play the first
game of the quarter finals, and
lost the first game 16-11, in the
best two -out -of -three series. The
game was close till the sixth
inning, when Clinton pounded"
in eight runs, to put the game
in the bag.

with three runs, and R. Doig

son, Clinton, released the body.
Workmen painting the near-
by bridge rushed to the acci-
dent scene and summoned help.
They were Clark Johnson and
George Hetherington, of Blue -
vale.
The youth is survived by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Kennedy; three sisters, Bonnie,
Christine a n d Lorris; four
brothers, Dale, Allan, Ronald
and Kimberly; grandparents,

Second Tragedy
It was the second tragedy in-
volving children associated with
Seaforth. On the preceding
Sunday, - 10 - year - old Danny
Hough, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Horn, of- RR 4, Mitchell,
died on Highway 23 . at Willow
Grove. The bicycle he was rid-
ing and a car collided. His
mother is the former Ruth Nigh'
of Seaforth.

Word was received Saturday
of the death that day of Thomas
E. Love, at his home near Mile-
stone, Sask. Further particu-

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Murphy,
Mrs. J. L. Devereaux and Mr.
and Mrs. James Devereaux were
in Toronto recently attending
the funeral of Charles Robert-
son, 65, who died in East York
Hospital on' July 31, after an
.illness of two weeks.
Mr. Robertson is survived•by
his wife, the former Agnes Mur-
phy, and one 'daughter, Mrs.
Pat • (Sheila) Harrigan, of To-
ronto.
Funeral services were held -
Tuesday from St. Bridget's Rom-
an Catholic Church, • Toronto,
with interment in Holy Cross
cemetery, Thornhill. Pallbear-
ers, were J. J. Murphy, James
Devereaux, William Murphy,
Robert Devereaux, Bill Cuth-
berstoh and Rennie Robertson.
MRS. JOHN BEATTIE
Mrs. John Beattie, 79, died
Thursday, July 30th in Scott
Memorial Hospital. The former
Laura May Routledge, she was
born in Tuckersmith Township,
and married in 1919. Her hus-
band predeceased her in 1961.
Surviving are one son, Ken-
neth, of McKillop Township, and
sisters, Mrs. Charles (Agnes)
Dolmage, Seaforth; Mrs. James',
(Minnie) McGuire and Mrs.
James (Harriet) Grieve, both of
Hannah, North Dakota; broth-
ers, Roy of' Glenborne, North
Dakota; Arthur, of Seaforth.
Funeral service was held at
the R. S. Box funeral home, Sea -
forth, Sunday at 2 p.m., with
burial in. Maitlandbank ceme-
tery. Pallbearers were George
Smith, James McClure, Harold
Dodds, George Case, Oscar
Cuthill and Ross McClure. The
flowerbearers were William
Church, George Bernard, Alex
Kalichuk and Elgin Schade.
MURVIN M. GOVIER '
Murvin Mansfield Govier, a
life-long resident of Blyth area,
died in Clinton Public Hospital
Friday afternoon,. following a
brief illness. He was 53.
A son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. William Govier, he farm-
ed in Morris Township, near
Blyth, and had been a partial
invalid for the past 17 years.
A few months ago he moved to
a trailer near a sister in Blyth.
His wife, the former Margaret
Caldwell, died two years ago.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Robert (Joan) MacDougall,
Goderich, and Miss Carol Gov-
ier, Morris Township, and a
son, Murray, of Blyth; one bro-
ther, Robert, of Seaforth; four
sisters,, Mrs, Alice Anstay, Mrs.
Melvin Good and Mrs. Sarto
Healy,, all of Goderich, and
Mrs. Earl (Margaret) Caldwell,
Blyth. •
The body rested at the Task-
er Memorial Chapel, Blyth,
until Monday, when removal
was made to -Blyth United
Church for service, with Rev.
W. J. Mains officiating. Burial
followed in Union Cemetery.
JOHN HARRIS
There passed away on Thurs-
day, Aug, 6, in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, John Harris,
'in his 97th year. He was born
in Grey Township and was the
son of the. late Mr. and Mrs.
John Harris.
In 1895 he married Flora
Campbell, of Walton, and farm-
ed there for '35 years. He was
also. insurance ageht for the
Howick Mutual Fire Insurance
Co. for 14 years. .
He is survived by his wife,
Flora, of St. Mary's Hospital,
London; three daughters, Mrs.
Lena McGavin, Kitchener; Mrs.
Hilda Sellers, Lucan, and Flora
(Mrs. Armand Kernick), Lucan;
five grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Satur-
day afternoon from the D. A.
Rann funeral home, Brussels,
with Rev. W. J. Maines, Londes-
boro, 'officiating. Thepallbear-
ers were Jack McGavin, London;
Wilmot McGavin., Sarnia; Herb
and Brian Traviss, Walton; Art
Wiles, Kitchener, and Bob Tay-
lor, of London. Flowerbearers
were Roy Sellers, Brussels, and,
Ross Bennett, Walton. .Inter-
ment was in Brussels cemetery.

Dies. in Carleton Place
Mrs. Fred G. Hemery, 78,
passed away in a nursng home
in Carleton Place on Sunday,
August 9. She was the former
Margaret A. McQueen, daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
John McQueen. She was prede-
ceased by' her husband in 1944.
' She leaves to mourn her loss
a brother, Stewart McQueen, of
Hensall, and a sister, Mrs.
Percy (Mary) Bartlett, Thames-
-ford, and several nieces and
nephews.
Service was held Monday,,
Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. at Patterson
& Son Funeral Home, Carleton
Place. Public funeral services
were held at the Bonthron Fun-
eral Home, Hensall, Wednesday,
conducted by 'Rev. J. P. Gan -
don, of Exeter. Interment was
in McTaggart's cemetery.

Rev, Charles Faulkner, of
Forest, conducted services in
Carmel Presbyterian Church on
Sunday morning and officiated
for the baptism of Gregory Ian,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Hog-
garth, who, received the rites
of baptism. Flowers in the
church sanctuary were in mem-
ory bf the late Mr. and Mrs.
Basil Edwards, placed there by
Mrs. Johnston, ' of St. Cathar-
ines, a niece of Mrs. Edwards.
Hand is Injured
Garnet Allan, is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London, re-
ceiving treatment for an injur-
ed left hand, received in an
accident when a grain hoist at
a local mill fell on his hand
and crushing it. The end of
his middle finger was removed
and specialists hope to save the
finger. He will be in hospital
for two weeks.
Return From Vacation
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Armstrong
of Longueuil, P.Q., have return-
ed after a delightful two weeks'
vacation spent with theirdaugh-
ter and son-in-law, LAC Clar-
ence Hoy, Mrs. Hoy, Ronnie and
Gary, of Exeter. During their
vacation they spent a week at
a cottage at ,Port Albert, leav-
ing Sunday, August 2..for Mont-
real. They. enjoyed their vaca-
tion here and had a wonderful
time visiting the various places
of interest.
Biggar Reunion
The Biggar reunion was held
at Hesshaven cottage in the Pin-
ery with. 80 members of the
clan attending from Glencoe,
Corunna, Watford, Forest,
Strathroy, P1attsville, New Ham-
.liurg, Baden, London and Hen-
sall. •
Sports for_ the children and
adults were a feature of the
event and much enjoyed, with
the prize for the oldest person
present going to Mr. John
Hoist, of Baden. .
Officers appointed for 1965
Seaforth Calf
Club Meets
The Seaforth Calf Club held
the August meeting at the farm
of William J. Dale on Friday
in conjunction with the Guern-
sey twilight meeting. There
was a large attendance, and a
class of mature Guernsey cows
was judged. Don Pullen, assist-
ant agricultural- representative,
discussed the showing of beef
and dairy cattle. Hugh Hill, of
Goderich, the guest speaker,
discussed the quality of Guern-
sey milk. •
Hibbert Council
Hibbert council has accepted
the tender of Clarence Brick -
man for the Neevel Municipal

Extinguish Tractor Fire'
Hensall firemen were called
to the farm home of Alex Mc-
Murtrie, Kippen district farm-
er, to extinguish a tractor fire.
Mr. McMtirtrie had been filling
the tank from the gas purhp
when some gas spilled over,
causing it to ignite and taus,
ing extensive damage to the
tractor.. Laverne Harburn, of
Hensall, who was sitting on the
tractor at the tune, quickly
jumped off.
