ervice Bureau introduces Cottage Cheese Banana Splits.
These "splits" are bound to be a hit with both youngsters
and grownups for lunch. A delicious creamy combination of
cottage cheese, chopped nuts and berries, is scooped onto
lengthwise slices of banana and covered with a ;tangy fruit
dressing. Top each split with a sprig of mint, and serve with
extra dressing and bread sticks or hot buttered French bread.
Brucefield News of the Week
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Squires
and family, Sarnia, visited with
her parents over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ross, De,
troit, spent the,weekend with
the MeDonaldsi and attehded
the 'funeral of the late Miss
Martha McDonald.
The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to the sis-
ters and brothers 'of the late
Miss Martha McDonald.
Mrs. Jessie Lane visited for a
few dayswith Mrs. T. B. Baird.
Mrs. Elsie Forrest spent a
few days in London.
Master Glen McGregor was
in Clinton Hospital for surgery,
but is able to be home again.
Miss Melda Pepper is a pa-
tient in the hospital, having
had surgery. for appendicitis.
Unit One of UCW
Mrs. Berry was hostess for
the June meetihg of Unit One
of the UCW which opened by
repeating the Creed and the
Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Taylor had
the study book and spoke on
"Miriam,, the First Woman.
Singer." Mrs. E. Sillery read
the Scripture. The roll call, was
on roses. Mrs. Mac Wilson gave
the secretary's .report, and Mrs
Berry gave the treasurer's re-
port and received the offering.
A thank -you note was received
from Mrs. Stackhouse. It •was
decided to dispense with sum-
mer meetings.
Unit Four Meets
Unit Four met at the Bruce -
field Churchropening with "Let
the Beauty of Jesus." Mrs. V.
Hargreaves was in charge of
the study book. A film, "Day of
Experience," was shown, fol-
lowed by a discussion. Mrs. H.
Plant, assisted by Mrs. B. Wal-
ker, conducted the worship.
Mrs. I. Welland, unit leader,
conducted the business, asnbt-
ed by -Mrs. J Taylor, secretary.
The Brumfield Church straw-
berry simper will be held June
23. Members were reminded
there will not be meetings in
July and August.
Mrs. R. Scott has invited the
members to a picnic at her cot-
tage on July 14. Mrs. K. Scott,
card convener, gave her report,
and Mrs. R. Dalrymple gave the
treasurer's report. A white
elephant sale followed the
meeting, amounting to $11.55.
Lunch ,was served by Mrs. B.
St. Louis and her assistants.
COTTAWE CHEESE BANANA SPLITS
(Makes"6 Servings)
1,3 cup -chopped walnuts; 2 ,cups cottage cheese; 1h, tea-
spoon, salt; % cup blueberries or raspberries; 3 bananas; 1
medium head lettuce, shredded; 1 cup chilled fresh fruit; V:.
cup mayonnaise.
Set aside about 3 tablespoons chopped walnuts for garnish.
Combine cottage cheese, salt, berries and remaining walnuts
and mix thoroughly. Chill. When time to serve, cover 6 salad
plates with shredded lettuce. Slice bananas lengthwise and
place one half across each salad plate. Put one large or„two
small scoops of cottage cheese mixture on top of banana half.
-.Crush fruit slightly and sweeten to taste; fold into mayonnaise
and spoon over top of splits. Garnish with chopped walnuts
and a sprig of mint.

being, 1'Giving Thanks Through
Sharing." The story was read
by Mrst-Euthill. The group
worked on the book about In-
dia, followed by a sing -song. A
sonf, "Come With Hearts 'Re-.
joicing," was sung. Psalm 100,
terse 4, was read. The prayer
was followed by Hymn 612. The.

members and two leaders. The
offering was received by Patsy

a plan written, and are hoping
to put a two-way radio •set in
each clerk's office; except Exe-
ter, and this is going to be us-
ed for county business. It is
going to be in operation if we
need it for an emergency, and
a• lot of, people -knowing how
to use it. I hope to ask the
county to give us the 10%. If
we do have an emergency, I
think we can cope with it sat-
isfactorily."
