At Picnic Gathedng
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stelck,
of Huronview, Clinton, former-
ly cif Dashwood, on Saturday,
June 13, celebrated their 58th
wedding anniversary, tlfe. cele-
bration taking place at Gode-
rich Park, with their son, Mer•
vyn, and Mrs. Mervy Stelck, of
Bradford; their daughter, Patsy,
with her husband and their two
sons, Peter and Evan, of Toron-
to. Also present were Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Hay, of Crediton,
'niece and nephew of Mr. and
'Mrs. Stelck. A delicious lunch
was served and much enjoyed.
On Sunday, Mr, and Mrs.
Stelck's son treated his parents
to a long car,1ride to see the
beauty of the countryside.
During the week they were
visited by relatives from a dis-
tance, Dr. and Mrs. Calt, of Ed-
monton; Mrs. Walter Faasold
and Mrs. Ada Ratz, London.
Mrs. Ratz was the flower -girl
when they were married in
1907. Mr. William Hey, Dash-
wood, brother of Mfg. Stelck,
was the best man, and Miss
Margaret Stelck, of California,
was bridesmaid, and these at-
tendants are all living.
We wish to extend hearty
congratulations to Mr. • and Mrs.
Stelck, who for so many years
lived among us and were so
happy to have spent their lives
sin the community, and we hope
to have them celebrate many
more anniversaries in the com-
munity.

Funeral of Rex Dick
Public funeral services'' for
the late Rex Dick, who passed
away suddenly in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, Monday, June
22, were held from the Bon-
thron funeral home, Hensall,
Wednesday, conducted by Rev.
D., 0. 'Fry, of 'First Presbyter-
ian Church, Seaforth. Burial
was in Hensall Union Ceme-
tery.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Myrtle Taylor, and one
daughter, Mrs. Audrey Martin,
London.

Funeral. services' for Elliott
Fairbarin, ,70, 'of Tillsonburg,
were held on Wednesday, June
24, from , the H. A. Ostrander
Son funeral home, Tillsonburg,
with burial in Tillsonburg cem-
etery.
Mr. Fairbairn, who passed
away in Tillsonburg District
Memorial Hospital Sunday, re-
tired in 1961 as supervising
principal for Tillsonburg public
schools, and• taught in Tillson-
burg public schools for more
than 35 years. '
Survivors are his wife, the
former Minnie Ostrander;
daughters, Mrs. T. (Helen)
White, Hamilton; Mrs. Ewart
(Mona) Ostrander, Mrs. Fred
(Ruth) Tanner, Mrs. William

Returns to Ireland
• James McAfee, of Ballymon-
ey, Northern - Ireland,' returned
Saturday to Montreal, and left
on Monday for Ireland, after a
twenty-one day vacation in Can-
ada, during which time he
spent several days visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Wilson
and Ronnie. Mrs. Wilson is a
niece of Mr. McAfee.
Mrs. R. A. Orr and Mrs. Bev-
erly Beaton are attending the
Rebekah Assembly at Toronto,,
the .former as a representative,
and ,the latter, a scholar.
Mrs. Norval Reid and Diane
and Mrs. Beht Riley are vaca-
tioning at McKenzie Island with
Mr. and Mrs. •WilIiarn Taylor
and Mary Ann.
Miss Patricia Schwalm and
Miss larbara Schwalm have ac-
cepted positions on the staff at
Elim Lodge, on Pigeon Lake,
near Peterborough, for the sum-
mer months. Mr, and Mrs. Gor-
don Schwalm, Charles and Mar-
jorie, who drove them up, spent
the weekerid there.
Mr. and. Mrs. Alf Scholl and
Gary left Sunday by plane for,
Edmonton,' Alta., where they
will vacation for a week.
The many friends of Mrs. E.
R. Davis will regret to learn
is a patient in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London. We... wish her a
speedy recovery.

Noble Grands
Are Present
Monday evening was Past
Noble Grands' Night at Amber
Rebekah Lodge regular meet-
ing, held in the lodge hall, con-
ducting the opening and dos-
ing exercises. Mrs. John Ingram
reported sending treats to
members unable to be out. Nom-
inations were held.
The annual Oddfellows' and
Rebekah picnic will be at
Riverview Park, Exeter, Sunday
afternoon, June 28. Ladies are
asked to bring picnic baskets
and dishes. Members enjoyed
an evening of entertainment -of
euchre, and lunch was served
by the committee in charge.

land took the chair for the
business.
Carmel WMS
Serves 74 Years
The Senior Women's Mis-
sionary Society of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church celebrated
their 74th anniversary. Thurs-
day evening with guests from
Zurich Evangelical Church and
First Presbyterian Church, Sea -
forth, and the Arnold Circle of
this church'. Mrs. Earl Camp-
bell and Mrs. Harvey Hyde con-
ducted the devotion, the theme
being "Faith," and how we ap-
ply faith to building our spiri-
tual houses. Miss Hannah Mur-
ray assisted.
The guest speaker was Fred
Sloman, of Clinton, who told of
his . experiences as a teacher
and friend of the people in the
Northern country, using a trav-
elling railway car as his school
room and home.
Mrs. Ed. Munn and Mrs, Mal-
colm Dougall contributed a
piano duet.

Mock chaired the meeting. Mise.
Mary Payne read sacred pass-
ages, and Biu- Chipchase offer-
ed prayer.

the. Henderson family pienie at
Pinafore Park, St. Thomas, on
Sunday, attended by one hun-
dred members of the clan, who
enjoyed the day renewing ac-
quaintances.
Mrs. Erma Lowery and Linda,
who have been residents of
Hensall for the past two years,
took up, residence in_ Exeter
this week, and will live with
Mrs. Lowery's daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mur-
ray Brintnell and famil for
the summer months.

donhristie, Jim McAllister
and Wilmer Ferguson, of Hen-
sall, and Gordon Elliott, Bruce -
field, attended- -the United
Church Laymen's Conference at
Elgin House, Port Carling, over
the weekend.

Presbyterian, and United
Churches will begin in the Unit-
ed Church this Sunday, June
28, and continue through July.
Guest minister will be Rev. Ed-
ward Itaker, missionary from
Korea.
Funeral service for Alvin R.
Austin, 64, of Varna, rural mail
carrier for 28 years, who died
suddenly Thursday, were held
from Box funeral home, Sea -
forth, Monday, with burial in
Baird's cemetery. Surviv, s
are one sister, Mrs. F oyd
Schell, St. Petrsburg, Fla., and
one ,brother, William, Seaforth.
Mrs. Olive Walker, of Wing-
hani, is visiting with her daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
John Heal, and family.

ton, is vacationing with her
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.

Ipperwash Cadet Camp, spent
the weekend with his grand-
mother, Mrs. J. R. Murdoch, at
her cottage in Goderich. Mr.

with Mrs. Murdoch.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, of
Blenheim, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon White-
man and Beverley spent the
weekend with' their- daughter
and son-in-law, Mr.' and Mrs.
Lawrence McCoy, and family of
Oakville.
Mrs. Tony Charette received
a cablegram. Monday from Aus-
tria, her homeland, advising
her of the tragic death of her
brother, who was crushed to
death in an accident. Mrs.
Charette spoke to her mother
by phone upon receiving the
word.

term at Alma College, St.
Thomas, on Thursday of last

A MUSICAL TOUCH FOR SUMMER Singer Terry' Dale,

a new weekly Thursday evening program on the CBC radio

AIr and Mrs. Henry Adkins,
RR 2, Hensel, celebrated their
45th wedding anniversary Sat-
urday night, when all the mem-
bers of theirfamily gathered
at the Dominion. Hotel, Zurich,
for a dinner U1 their honor.
Mr: and Mrs. Adkins were
married in St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich, on June 18,
1919, by Rev. H. Rembe, and
have resided ever since on the
present farm they own on the
fifth concession of -Hay Town-
ship.
Present for the anniversary
celebration were their five
sons: Howard, Hay Township;
Wilmer, Zurich; Cpl, Stewart
Adkins, RCAF, North Bay; Jack,
Clinton, and Donald, Sarnia;
their daughter, Mrs. Ernie Pow-
ell, Goderich, and their fam-
ilies; Mrs. Albert. Hess, Mrs.
William Reichert .and Mrs. Alf
Reichert, all of Zurich;. Mr.
Henry Fuss, Hensall, sisters
and brother of Mrs. Adkins;
and . William Adkins, of Owen
Sound, brother of Mr. Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins is the former Vio-

Entertainment for the eve-
ning was provided by Cpl. Stew-
art Adkins, of RCAF, North
Bay, who was stationed in
France for four years, and has
been in the Airforce 12 years,
who showed colored pictures of
places he visited — England,
Scotland, Italy, Germany, Swe-
den, Holland and Spain.

dies were entertained by the
Zurich ladies on Wednesday
evening at the Zurich Arena,
eeTebrating their 50th annivers-
ary.

Elwyn Kerslake, celebrating a
birthday.

nic was held at Riverview Park,
Exeter, on Thursday evening.

the Bullas and Johns- wedding
on Saturday, which -was held at
the Legion Hall in Exeter.

A miscellaneous shower was
held at the home of Mrs. Ar-
thur Dick in honor of her
daughter, Evelyn Marlene, prior
to her marriage of June 27th.
The address was read by
Dorothy Ross, and Evelyn was
presented with many lovely
gifts. Lunch was served.
