Served Seaforth As
Mayor and Reeve
A former mayor of Seaforth
and for nearly 60 years an ac-
tive citizen, Dr. Foster Harburn,
85, died in Huronview Friday.h
He had been in poor healt
about a year.
Keenly interested in the com-
munity, Dr. Harburn served on
town council for. eight years,
two as reeve and two years as
mayor.
He -was a member of North-
side United Church, an elder
and for a npmber of years was
treasurer. He had served for
seven years on the Maitlandbank
cemetery board, had been active
in the Seaforth Agricultural So-
ciety for about 45 years; was a
past secretary -treasurer of the
Canaan Order cif Foresters,
and had been a member of
IOOF and LOL of Seaforth.
Sort of --the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Harburn, Hibbert Town-
ship, Dr. Harburn was educat-
ed at S.S. 3, Hibbert, Toronto
Veterinary College, and the
University of North Dakota. He

he is survived by one daughter,

and two great-grandchildren.

Whitney funeral home here,
where a largely attended fun-
eral service was held Monday,
with Rev. J. C. Britton of North-
side United Church officiating.
Burial was in Maitlandbank
cemetery.

vincial 4-11 Exchange, and the
1965 4-H Conference in Wash-,
ington.

According to 4-1I -'officials,
Donald McKercher has been
chosen to attend the week of
training on the basis of his
outstanding 4 -II club record.
He has completed 14 4-11 proj-
ects and is working on his 15th
this year. His projects bane
included beef; grain and corn -
He has also taken part in num-
erous livestock and grain judg-
ing eotnpetitions, as will as in-
ter -club competitions. He has
just completed his first year of
the Degree Course at Macdon-
ald College of McGill Univers-
ity •and is planning to return
in the fall. During the sunimer
months he helps out on his
father's farm.

Heads Class
Gisela Dorranee won the fac-
ulty and staff prizes at the Uni-
versity 'of Waterloo for having
obtained the highest standing
in first-year Arts at the unn
versity. She is a daughter of
Mr. and....11,Irs. Ed. Dorranee, of
MeXillop, and is graduate
of MIS. A $50.60 cash award -
goes with the prize.

For Bride -Elect
A •Miscellaneous shower was
held in honor of Mids Evelyn
Dick, whose marriage takes
place this week. It was held at
the home of her mother, Mrs.
A. W. Dick, on Friday evening,
when 35 neighbors and friends
presented her with many love-
ly gifts. Contests were enjoyed
during the eVening. Miss Dick
and her mother were seated on
a prettily decorated settee, and
the bride -elect opened and dis-
played her gifts,

was unveiled and dedicated in

Mr. and. Mrs. John McDonald
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on Saturday, • when
a family dinner was held in the
Viralton Community Hall in, the
evening. About 75 • relatives
were present.
Mr. and Mrs. McDonald were
married Rine 24, 1914, at the
home of the bride's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Campbell,
in Hullett. The bride of fifty
years age, -he former Gertrude
Campbell, is a native of Hul-
lett, and, before her marriage
taught school there.
Mr. McDonald, the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. James Mc-
Donald, was born in Grey, 1Y4•
miles north of Walton, on the
county road. Following his.wed-
ding, he And his' bride moved
lot ,6, con. 16, Grey, where
they continued to reside until
a fire destroyed their barn and
they moved across the side -
road to tot 5.
They have one son, Alvin, of
Grey, and a daughter, Mrs., G.
M. McGale, qf Toronto. There
are two grandsons -and -:a great-
granddaughter.

Joseph's Hospital, London,, on
Wednesday morning tqf Leslie
John Pryce. In his 44th year,
he had been ill for three
months.
Mr. Pryce was secretary -
treasurer of the McKillop Mun-
icipal Telephone System and
also of the Seaforth Agrieul-
tural Society. Born in McKil-'"
lop, the son of Mr. and Mrs. 0
John Pryce, he attended school
at SS. No. 8, and farmed -on
concession 8. He was a mem-
ber of Cavan United Church,
Winthrop, and of the Canadian
Order of Foresters, Kinburri.
He was married to the for-
mer Elizabeth (Beth) Campbell,
who survives, together with a
family of four: Joan, Gordon,
Robert and Christine, all at
home. He is also survived by
his parents, and by a brother
Alvin, of Kitchener, and maim
Beafriee, London; (Jean) Mt
Ahren Doerr, Galt; (Helen) Mrs.
Robert Parsons, Hibbert.
