BRUCEFIELD
The United Church Women
, of Brucefield held their annual
visitors' day Tuesday. Ladies
of Kippen, Hensall United, Hen-
sall Presbyterian and Chisel-
hurst were 'guests; also a good-
ly nurither from Brucefield
Church.,
Mrs. G. Elliott gave the Call
to Worship and the meeting op-
ened by singing Hymn 41, Mrs.
Murdoch at the organ. Mrs. Jack
Henderson read the lesson from
Psalm 27. Mrs. (Rev.) Plant
sang a beautiful solo, and Mrs.
Harvey Taylor led in prayer.
The offering was received by
Mrs. Hargreaves and Mrs. M.
Graham, with dedication prayer
by Mrs. Henderson,
Mrs. 'Elliott gave a splendid
meditation on ."Why Praise
God." He inspires us by His
Holy Word, Which is full of
thoughts for our guidance.
Adoration is giving our while
life and being to 'God, also to
praise Him and pray daily to
Him for hope and guidance.
Hymn 315 was sung, and Mrs.
Elliott closed the devotional•per-
iod with prayer.
Mrs. Elliott welcomed the vis-
iting ladies. Mrs. Murdoch,
Mrs. Mac Wilson and Mrs. Mof-
fatt gave two lovely musical
number on organ, violin and
piano, "The Stranger of Gali-
lee" and "Abide With Us" were
their choice. Mrs. Rowe, of Hen-
sall, gave a reading on Dialect,
and a trio from Kippen, Mrs.
Lovell, Mrs. Kyle and Mrs.
Cooper, sang, "I Walked in the
Garden Alone."
The Brucefield ladies, Mrs. E.
Allan, Mrs. Alex McBeath, Mrs.
Robert Allan and Mrs.. Stuart
Wilson, gave a dramatic read-
ing on "Stewardship," Mrs. Mc -
Beath being narrator, and Mrs.
Edgar Allan took, the part of
secretary. , It brought out the
fact that not only our money
was tithed, also our talents, our
time - and our prayers were
needed, as well as our money.
The 'seed has to be sown to
grow, and buildings have to be
planned. The meeting . closed
by dismissal prayer.

EGMONDVILLE UNITED CHURCH was the scene re-
cently for a wedding when June Elizabeth, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert McLachlan, of Kippen, became the bride'
of Gerald Paul, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Blaine, of Gran-
ton.. The • Rev. A. W. Gardiner, Strathroy, officiated.. The
couple will reside at 40 Victoria. Street, London. '
Canadian social worker Doris Clark invites you to write
her about your problem. She answers letters of general
interest, in this column but can't undertake personal replies.
DEAR DORIS-I recently be-
came engaged to a wonderful
boy. He gives me everything I
want but I am too spoiled. We
fight over the silliest things,
and I finally learned my lesson
the hard way.
You see, we had a fight and
I took' my ring off and I drop-
ped it in the car window and
it is gone and we cannot find
t. My boy friend didn't get
mad or anything. I started cry -
ng and he just pampered me
and said he would get me an-
other one.
I will never be able to for-
give myself for losing my ring.
I cannot take another ring, How
can I make up for my first
ring? Should I pay for it?
UNHAPPY
DEAR UNHAPPY -Can you
call a halt on being in love
with yourself and start shew-
'ng you are in love with film?.
Your indulgent lover is' not
the type to help you mature,
so your happiness depends on
your own self-discipline. Save
up and replace the ring for a
start.
* * *
DEAR DOFI-My husband
comes home and eats his meal
without speaking. He listens
more to his sister than, to me.
He doesn't even notice me at
all. He doesn't want the chil-
dren to play with him.
He sure talks nice to the
other girls. The only time he
opens his mouth is when some-
one comes over but not to me.
IGNORED '
DEAR IGNORED - He's the
oser when he passes up fam-
ily fun. But what has happen-
ed to the fun you used to have?
Just in case a self-improvement
program might help, I am send-
ing you my list of books on
Sex and Marriage. (Note to
readers: This list will be mail-
ed to anyone writing in and
enclosing h stamped envelope.)
* * *
DEAR DORIS-I lost my hus-
band in an accident. We had a
lot of employees, friends ,and
different businessmen that he
dealt with who sent me. sym-
pathy cards, flowers and letters.
Now I have not anSwered• any
of these. I feel, that I should
but don't know how to go about
it.
A LONELY WIDOW
DEAR WIDOW - Since two
months have elapsed, say some-
thing like this:
"I hope you will forgive me
for taking so long to acknowl-
edge your kind expression of
sympathy. I don't know what
I would have done without the
interest and concern of friends
like you when I lost my hus-
band so suddenly.
"George was a fine man and
a wonderful husband. He va-
lued his friends a great deal
and often spoke about you.
Please accept my gratitude-, for
the lovely flowers." • Or fill in
whatever applies.

TO AMBITIOUS - You are
bound to have special talents,
and your life's work should tal-
ly with them. Write to me in
care of this newspaper, enclos-
ing ten cents, and a five -cent
stamped envelope, 'for my leaf-
let on Choosing "a' Career.

General
A fidelity bond was not examined for the Secretary -
Treasurer of School Section No. 3 and therefore it is pre-
sumed he is not bonded.
On the Revenue Fund Balance Sheet of the Township
of Tuckersmith School Area there is shown an amount
due from the Capital Funds of $20,000.00. I would again
suggest that this amount be written off as it is apparent
that the Capital Funds does not have any money to pay.
off this -amount.
No commercial rate was leVied against the taxpayers
with respect to the -District High Schools.
There is no authority to make a pre -levy for loans
under the Tile Drainage Act. In 1963 'the pre -levy amount-
ed to $1,171.35.
Audita Opinion
Subject to the foregoing, I report that in my opinion:
(1) The financial transactions which have come un-
der my notice have been within the powers of the munici-
pality.
(2) The audit has been conducted in accordance with
the instructions of the Department 'of Municipal Affairs.
(3) The financial statements present fairly the finan-
cial position of the Municipality as at December 31, 1963,
and the results 'of its operations for the year ended on
that date. . v
