Donates- Prizes
For Poetry
Mrs. Joseph Grummett, wo-
men's president of the Ontario
Association of Agricultural So-
cieties, has announced she will
sponsor a poetry competition
among pupils of Grades 6, 7
and 8, of any elementary school
connected with the Seaforth
Fall Fair.
The maximum length of the
poem is to be 16 lines, with the
pupils choosing their own title.
The teachers are asked to con-
duct .the writing of the poems
as an exercise in English.
In announcing the competi-
tion, Mrs. Grummett said en-
tries must be sent to her by
the end of June to be judged.
One -room schools will be al-
lowed to submit three entries
only; two -room schools, five en-
tries; and larger schools, three
entries per room.
Prize-winning essays will be
printed in ,The Huron Exposi-
tor, and will also be posted at
the Seaforth Fall Fair.
. Teachers are asked to label -
entries as follows: Pupil's
name and age; school and
grade; and parents' full name
and address. Prizes will be
paid as follows: $2, $1, $1,
50c and 50c.

when Margaret Viola .Hudson,
Seaforth, became the bride of
T. Barrows Marshall, Walton:
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hudson,
Seaforth; and the groom is the
soii of Mrs. Luella Marshall, of
Walton, and.. the late Mr. Mar-
shall.` The Rev. J. C. Britton
officiated. Mrs. James A. Stew-
art was organist.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a white
Chantilly lace .floor -length gown
with bouffant skirt, accented.
with a slim waist. The bodice
featured a bateau neckline em-
bossed with jewels and lily -
point sleeves. The bridal veil
of silk illusion was held in
place with a floral design in
silk organza. Cultered pearl ear-
rings, a gift of the groom, com-
pleted her - ensemble. She car-
ried a cascade bouquet of
American Beauty roses.
Miss Muriel Hudson, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor,
gowned in a French blue chif-
fon, featuring a Chantilly lace
bodice. She carried a cascade
of pink roses.
The flower -girl, Miss Janice
Holroyd, niece of the bride, was
gowned in a white nylon dress,
and carried red roses. The ring -
bearer, Douglas Holroyd, a
nephew of the bride, wore a
beige jacket and brown trous-
ers.
Frank Marshall, brother of
the groom, of North Bay, was
groomsman, and the guests
were ushered by Frank Hol-
royd, Preston, and Dr. Frank
Bennett, Newmarket.
A reception followed in the
church parlor. Mr. Don Stone,
of Brampton, was master of
ceremonies.
For a wedding, trip to 'the
Western Central States, the
bride travelled in a blue linen
duster over a lace and linen
dress with white accessories. A
corsage of rbd roses Completed
her ensemble. On their return
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall will re-
side in Walton.

Records fell like ten -pins
when SDH§ students competed
in , the annual athletic competi-
tionS Friday afternoon.
' In the girls' events, Christine
Dobson set a new 'high mark
in the running broad jump with
13' a1/2", to better a record of
12' 11" set by G. McTaggart in
1958. In the standing broad,
she jumped 7' 4" for another
record. Sally Mowatt, set a new
distance record when she threw
the softball 141' 9", to better
a throw of 136' 4" by E. Ross
last year.
Roba Doig broke four records
in the senior girls' events. She
tied the 1962 record of 13' 1"
set last year by P. Stapleton
in the 100 -yard dash. In the
standing broad , jump, running
broad jump and softball throw,
she set. new levels of 7' :51/4",
12' 11" and 137' 5". Previous
record holders were P. Staple-
ton, 7' 4", in 1962; P. Staple-
ton, 12' 91" in 1961; and M.
Elliott, 137' 8", in 1960.
Boys Are Better
In the junior boys' events,
Doug Dalrymple, with a jump'
of 35' • 4", toppled a mark of
34' 11" established by B. Camp-
bell' in 1958.
• Witold Chomicki ran the 880.
yards in 2.21:5 to.better a mark
of 2:33 set by P.• Rau in 1960.
Other new highs (with the pre-
vious records in brackets) were:

Three records fell in the
senior events: Paul Rau ran
the 440 yards in 57;45, the pre-

jumped 5' 4" in the high jump,
to better a, jump of 5' 3" by
N. Dolmage in 1960, and also
led in the hop,step and jump
with 39' 21/4". The previous
holder in this event was B.

The bride, •given in marriage
by her father, wore a controlled
gown c silk organza over taf-
feta with scoop neckline and
long lilypoint sleeves. The
gown was accented by a waist-
band of French lace , and seed
pearls with a matching band at
the hemline. For her headpiece
the bride chose a tiara of se-
quins and seed pearls, veil with
appliques of French lace, and
she carried pink rosebuds on a
white Bible.
Miss Dorothy Boyes was maid
of honor for her sister. Icer
gown of green silk organza ov-
er taffeta featured a scoop
neckline, short sleeves with
lace inset, , the waist of the
gown also • being accented by
white lace. A crown of white
lace with white veiling and
long white gloves completed her
costume, and she carried pink
carnations.
Bridesmaids Miss Margaret
Chesney, RR 3, Seaforth, and
Miss Nancy Consitt, RR 1; Zur-
ich, Oister of the groom, wore
gowns identical to that of the
maid of honor, and carried pink
carnations.
Miss Dianne Consitt, flower -
girl, wore a dress of white crys-
tal charm, a ring of pink dais-
ies for a headpiece, white gloves
and carriedia nosegay of pink
rosebuds.
David Smith, as ringbearer,
wore a grey double knitted suit.

Kitchener, when friends and
neighbors gathered to honor
her on her approaching° mar-

occasion. A delicious lunch was
enjoyed. .
