Unit Three accepted an invi-
tation to be the guests. of Unit
Four for the June meeting, to
be held at the Lions Park on
June 2nd. Two Hymnals were
purchased •in honor of the late
Christena Bristow.
Mrs. Fern Patterson gave an
interesting account of some .. of
the mothers in the Bible, in-
cluding both good and evil. A
bale will be sent from the
.church at the end of may. Mrs.
McCuaig thanked the hostess.

Mrs. Rose Amelia Watts, 83,
of RR 1, Hensall, died at Clin-
ton on Tuesday. The widow of
Frederick W. Watts, she is sur-
vived by a daughter, Mrs. Thos.
Brintnell, RR 1, Hensall, and a
sister, Mrs. Maude Reid, . of To-
ronto.
Service is being held Thurs.

eral home, Clinton, with inter-
ment in Clinton cemetery.

Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie receiv-
ed word of the death of her
sister, Mrs. G. Alice, Miller, of
Seattle, Washington, who pass-
ed away Tuesday evening. She
was the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. John Cochrane
of Kippen.

Mrs. R John Strong, 58, Of
RR 2, Seaforth, died Tuesday in
Scott' Memorial Hospital, Sea -
forth. She was the former Ada
Grace White.
Surviving are her husband;

Marie, at home; _five. 3ons, Don..
ald, Clinton; Robert, Winnipeg;
Jack, London; James, Stratford;
Arthur, at home; three sisters,

er) Michaelossky, Breslau; Mrs.
Charles% (May) Bradshaw, Kitch-
ener; and two brothers, J. Jud-
son White, Hamilton, and Ar-
thur A. White, Kitchener, and
14 grandchildren.
The funeral service' will be
conducted by Rev. Douglas 0.

Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Box
funeral home, 'Seaforth. Burial
will be in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery.

art Dolmage and Wm.' Storey,

• A funeral service for Mrs.
Charles Eggert of McKillop,
who died May 5, was held at
the EUB Church, McKillop Twp.
conducted by Rev. A. M. Ama-
cher of Zurich, pastor of the
church, assisted by, Rev. Ern-
est New of the United Church,
Monkton. A solo, "Beyond the
Sunset," was sung by Mrs. „ A
M. Amacher.
The pallbearers were Laurie
Hartmier, of Beaverton; Gerald
Hartmier, of Millgrove; William
Huether, Morriston; Earl Ham-
pel, Burlington; Harry Regele,
McKillop Township, and' Ed-
ward Scherbarth, Jr., of Logan
Township, all nephews. Burial
was made in the EUB cemetery,
McKillop. Township.
Friends and relatives attend-
ed from Beaverton, Hillgrove,
Hamilton, Morriston, Guelph,
Milverton, London, Brunner,
Sebringvillef Atwood, Gowans -
town, Sheffield, McKillop Town-
ship and. surrounding district.
MRS. HENRY J. LEQNHARDT
Mrs. Henry J. Leonhardt, •79,
of RR 1, Bornholm, died in
Stratford General Hospital on
Tuesday, where she had been
a patient since April 30. The
former Emilie Hoppenrath, she
was born in Logan Township
on May 4, 1885, a daughter.. of
the late William ' Hoppenrath
and his wife, the former Eliza-
beth Heckman.
On March 6, 1906, she was
married to Mr. Leonhardt and
they farmed in Logan Township
on the present farm, since 1921.
She was a member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen.
Besides her husband, she is
survived by one son, Herman
Leonhardt, on the home place;
one daughter, ,Mrs. Martha Dra-
ger, Seaforth; two sisters, Mrs.
Mary Leonhardt, Bornholm, and..
Mrs. Christena_,Ritz, RR 2, West
Monkton; 14 grandchildren and
26 great ,grandchildren.
The body will be at the Lock-
hart funeral home, Mitchell,
until noon Friday, when remov-
al will, be made to St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen,
for funeral service at 2:30 p.m.
Rev. Harold Brill, pastor of the
church, will officiate and burial
will ' be in. St. Peter's Lutheran
cemetery.

Legion Ladies
Hold. Meeting
The regular meeting of the
Legion Ladies' Auxiliary was
held Wednesday evening with
the president, Mrs. M. McGrath.
presiding. Mrs. Cleave Coombs
won the 8:30 draw,
The meeting opened with
carrying on of the colors and
singing "0 Canada," Eighteen
members answered roll call.
The girls were reminded of the
zone rally, June 3rd. Mrs. Ken
Coombs won the mystery prize
and Mrs. Jim Brown won, the
crochet Poodle dog, donated by
Mrs. McGrath, . Mrs. Jim Sal -
lows gave a report on the bowl-
ing tournament and on the
euchre tournament at Palmer-
ston. Mrs. Cleave Coombs gave
a report on the. banquet for the
men's district meeting,, thank-
ing the girls for their help and
co-operation. A banquet for the
girls in Grand Bend is to be fi-
nanced from tip money receiv-
ed at banquets during the year.

thestudy book. Mrs. H. Tay-
lor presided for the business
part of the meeting. Mrs. Mac
Wilson gave the secretary's re-
port and roll call was answer-
ed with averse on 'Friendship-'
Thank -you notes were received
from Mrs. Berry and Miss T.
McNaughton. Mrs. McNaughton
gave the treasurer's report A
petition opposing the, advertis-
ing of beer - on TV for sport
programs was signed. Plans
were completed for a rummage
sale- on May 23. The next meet-
ing is to be at Mrs. Berry's
home on June 9th.
WINTHROP---
The Messengers met in the
Sunday schoolroom with the
mothers present. The theme
was "Our Families." Hymn 394
was sung, followed by- a wel-
come to the mothers by Donna
Horne. The Scripture was read
by Margaret McNichol, and
Marie McClure led in prayer.
The roll call was answered by
28 members, two leaders and
12 mothers. The offering was
received by Rae McNichol and
Ken Anderson,' An instrumen-
tal by Glenda Little was fol-
lowed by a reading by Ken.An-
derson. The study was taken by
Mrs.• Dodds. A song by Glenda,
Marie, Barbara, Janice, Brenda
and Donna was enjoyed. A
film -strip on India was shown.
Mrs. Cuthill told the 'story.
