About 150 Legion ladies from Zone C-1 were in Seaforth for the second annual bowling tournament. Mrs. Jim Sallows, sports officer, was in charge. Bingo was played in the after- noon, and other features includ- ed a penny sale, door prizes and draws for a variety of articles. The m r ants of Seaforth donated - mber of the priz- es. The ladies re served a cold plate supper, followed by en- tertainment by Terry Ford, Jim Scott and Bill Campbell; the Storey sisters, with Mrs.. Storey accompanying on the piano, and Mrs. Cleave Coombs, with Mrs. Joseph McConnell at the piano. Mayor Angus MacLean wel- comed the girls, . and Ron Mac- Donald and "D., Sills spoke on behalf of the Legion.. Wood, Seaforth; lowest bowler, Liz Brown. The 'Walton Unit held their May meeting in the Sunday school room of Duff's United Church Wednesday evening. Mrs. rNelson M rks opened the meeting with the Call To Wor- ship. The hymn, "For the Beau- ty of the Earth," was sung with Mr's. Harvey Brown accompany- ing, followed by prayer. Mrs. Ronald.Bennett read the Scripture taken from Psalm 96: 9=13, and Psalm 27:4, and com- mented on it. Prayer was of- fered by Mrs. Nelson Marks and also read a poem entitled, "Nobody Knows But Mother." The hymn, "God is Love, His Mercy Brightens," was sung. Mrs. W. C: Hackwell gave an interesting topic taken from the book, "Look Up and Lift Up," by William J. Marsh, entitled, "Ye Are the Salt of the Earth" and '"The Result of Having Faith That •Worked." The busi- ness was condietel1 by Mrs. Al- lan McCall wh8 read a poem, "What is the Church?" Mrs. Harvey Brown led a question- naire on the Bible for the roll call. The secretary's report was given by •Mrs. Jean Clark, fol- lowed by the treasurer's report by Mrs. Walter Bewley. Any- one having flowers is asked to let Mrs. Allan McCall know during the month of May for the Sunday services. A discussion followed on hav- ing a vacation , school for the children. More plans will be made later. The CGIT will hold a mother and daughter ban- quet May 26, sponsored by the UCW. An invitation from Con- stance was accepted for June 10. The collection was. receiv- ed by Mrs. Walter Bewley and offertory prayer given by Mrs. Allan McCall. The hymn, "Lord of All Being Throned Afar" was sung. The unit will pay for one bale to be sent away. A; question and answer period on the. Bible was conducted by Mrs. Allan McCall, Lunch was served by Mrs. Jack McEwing, Mrs. Allan Searle and Mrs. Ce- cil Lydiatt. ley explained how the money from the mite boxes would help children, nurses and doctors get their education in India.
