was the setting at 4:00 p.m. Sat-
urday for the marriage of Eliza-
beth Anne Goddard and John
Douglas Jamieson. Rev. John
G. Goddard, of Kelowna, B.C.,
grandfather of the bride, and
Elev. Harold F. Currie officiat-
ed.
The bride is the daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. John C. Goddard,
Hensall, and• Mr. and Mrs. 'John
Arnold Jamieson, RR 4, Clin-
ton ,are parents of the groom.

Given in rharriage`'' by her
father, the bride chose an or-
iginal floor -length gown of white
pure silk peau de faille with a
controlled skirt. The bodice
featured a lace appliqued inset
and the chapel train fell from
above the ,inset at the back of
the gown. A circlet of peau de
faille petals held her shoulder-
length veil. She carried a• cas-
cade•of. white roses, stephanotis
and ivy.

Clinton, as bridesmaids, and
Miss Joan Goddard, Hensall, as
flower -girl, were gowned alike
in floor -length dresses of dusty
pink silk peau de faillein a
style similar" to the bride's
gown. The bridesmaids carried
crescents of pink mums and
green leaves, and the flower -
girl carried a nosegay of white
rose buds and stephanotis.
Bill Broadworth, .-•Peterbor-
ough, was best man, and Larry
Campbell, of .Ottawa; Dennis
Mock, Hensall; Leonard' Jamie-
son, RR 4, Clinton, and. John
Goddard, Hensall, were ushers.
Mrs. Robert Pryde, Hensall,
played the wedding music and
accompanied the soloist, Mr.
Allan Elston, Centralia, who
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and
"The Wedding Hymn."
A reception was held in the
church rooms, where the bride's
mother received in a dusty rose
faille dress with matching flow-
er hat, mink brown accessories,
and a corsage of white roses.
She was assisted by the .groom's
mother in a turquoise shantung
.suit with beige accessories, and
a corsage of pale pink roses:....
For a honeymoon trip to
Eastern 'Ontariol and Quebec,
the bride'donned a yellow three-
piece suit, with matching flower
hat and black patent • accessor-
ies. Her corsage was of Talis-
man•'roses. The couple will re-
side in St, Catharines.
Guests attended the wedding
from Toronto, London, Guelph,
Kelowna, B.C., Michigan, Exe-
ter, Clinton and- Seaforth.

Grandmothers were special
guests at the Historical Re-
search May meeting of Hensall
Women's Institute, held Wed-
nesday' evening, attended by
nearly 70 members and • guests,
who were welcomed by presi-
dent Mrs. Beverly Beaton. Mrs.
R. M. Peck read a letter from
the Institute's former adopted
girl in Austria. An invitation
to hold the June picnic at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Reid was accepted. Mrs. Carl
Payne presented an informa-
tive .report of the district con-
ference at Guelph.
Mrs. Robert Elgie convened a
program which consisted of
selections by Grant and Ken-
neth Jones representing the
Beatles, entertaining with vo-
cal duets, with guitar accom-
paniment, with the usual Beetle
applause:

Finds Weather. Balloon
Mr. Alex McBeath and sons,
Ross and Doug, of RR 3, Kip -
pen, while in their bush Thurs-
day evening, found a weather
balloon which had lodged in a
tree 50 feet high. The weather
'balloon had been sent out from
Flint, Michi.; Mardi 1st, by the
United States Department of
Commerce weather bureau with
instructions to return to Joliete,
Ill., Weather Bureau. It was re-
turned by Postmaster Cecil Kip-
fer, Hensall.
Guest speakers, introduced by
Mrs. Elgie, speaking on the his-
tory of their native country, in-
cluded Mrs. John Skea, for
Scotland; Mrs. Susan Devlae-
mniek (Belgium); Mrs. E. Vis-
scher (Holland), and Mrs. Henry
Stasik, speaking on Poland and
the . concentration camp. Each
were . presented gifts by Mrs.
Elgie,

Miss Phyllis Case, who has
been on the staff of Hender-
son's Produce Ltd. for the past
15 years, has resigned her posi-
tion. Prior to her leaving Sat•
urday last, a group of friends
met and presented her with a
gift..
The Explorers of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met at
the leader's home, Mrs. W.
Hopkins, who is moving to
Greenwood, N.S., whose hus-
band, stationed at RCAF Sta-
tion Centralia, was posted there
this week. President Marjorie
Schwalm and secretary Dorothy
Skea presented •a gift of a cup
and saucer to Mrs. Hopkins and
a toy game to their son, Stew-
art. Mrs. Hopkins expressed
thanks and served them a de-
licious dinner.
Mrs. Pearl Koehler, Mrs. Wal-
ker Carlile, Mrs. Edna Caldwell
and Mrs. J. McLellan favored
with old-time dance numbers in
costume, "Heel and Toe Polka,"
"Seven Step," "Floridora" and
the "Waltz Country." Mrs. Boss
Broadfoot accompanied at the
piano.
Prizes for yeldest grandmother
went to Mrs. Alice Joynt, Hen-
sall; youngest, Mrs. . George
Boa; RR 1, Hensall; grandmoth-
er coming the farthest distance,
Mrs. S. E. Kidd, Desboro, priz-
es donated by Mrs. T. ,Sherritt.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Mrs. Sherritt and lunch serv-
ed by the hostesses, Mrs. Geo.
Armstrong. and. Mrs. N. E. Cook
and their assistants. Program
conveners- were Mrs. Sherritt
and Mrs. Elgie. -
David and Janice Moore, of
Woodstock, visited their grand-
mother, Mrs. Harry Caldwell,
and their aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs, Vern Alderdice, while
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Moore, enjoyed a four-day vaca-
tion, in New York City, - and
were guests of the Metropolitan
Life Insurance Co. They re-
tdtn'ed home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Vieu, of -
London, have taken up resi-
dence in the Fink Apartments,
on Nelson Street. Both are em-
ployed at the New. Commercial

Holds Meeting
Chiselhurst United Church
Women held their May meet-
ing on Tuesday afternoon with
18 ladies present. Mrs. Harold
Parker, president'. presided and
opened with a poem. 'Mrs. R.
Taylor led ..the worship service
on "Fruits of •the Spirit," and
Mrs. Robert Kinsman offered
prayer.
Mrs. Ben Stoneman was in
oharge of the program on "Cit-
izenship" and gave a talk on
the subject, and then showed a
film called, "We ,,Are All Bro-
thers," which proved very in-
teresting. Mrs. Ross Riley gave
a humorous reading, "The Big
Spring Purge," and Mrs. R. Tay-
lor and Mrs. A. Ross sang a
lovely duet, "I Belong To the
King," accompanied by Mrs.
Robert Kinsman at the piano,

Members of the IOOF and
Amber Rebekah Lodges in an
impressive parade of over 60
members ,attended divine serv-
ice at Carmel Presbyterian
Church Sunday morning and
were addressed by Rev. Ure
Stewart, of Seaf rth, 'speaking
on the three link, "Friendship,
Love and Truth." The. choir
sang an anthem. Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall presided at the organ
console.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lewis, of
Sarnia, were weekend guests
with the latter's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Spencer, and
also attended the Jamieson -
Goddard wedding as guests on
Saturday.
Miss Barbara Schwalm was a
weekend guest with Miss Shar-
on Wieder, of Zurich.

isited over the weeekend holiday
with Miss Marjorie Schwalm.
Jack Gilbert, of Goderich,
won the Huron County cham-
pionship trophy in a Victoria
Day trap shoot competition,
held at Kippen Sunday after-
noon, sponsored by Kippen Gun
Club, scoring 70 out of a pos-
sible 75' points. John Anderson,
Hensall, was runner-up with 69
points, followed .by ' Hedley
Prowse and Bill . Stewart, both
of Goderich. .Each had 67
points. John Henderson won
'the 16 -yard event ' with a per-
fect 50 score.
Mr.. and ' Mrs.. John Long, of
Owen Sound, were weekend
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Long of Kippen.
At the Hensall-Chiselhurst

Sunday evening, president Ted
Mock, who presided, showed in-
teresting slides he had taken
while on his recent trip to New
Fork. For the devotional per-
iod Miss Nancy Kyle read scrip-
ture passages, and -Miss Ann'
Mickle offered prayer. Miss
Mickle also presided at the
piano for the hymns. Lunch
was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Talbot
and Brian have taken up resi-
dence east of Hensall.
