The presentation of trophies was made by the president, Mrs. L. (Betty) Leonhardt, as- sisted by the vice-president. Mrs. J. (Dorothy). Flannery. League champions were the Orphans, captained by ,Jack Bedard. Other members were Jack Sli.ea, Mary Hart, Pauline Huard, Betty . Salisburg and Gordon Muir. Pity -off winners were Strikers, captained by Mike Malone, Other members were George Hildebrand, Ger- da . Nobel, Jim Scott, Wayne Scott and Rita Duncan. Individual- awards: ladies' 'high single, "Kiddo" Muir, 259; high triple, Betty. Leonhardt, 663; high average, A-liee- 147. Men's high single, Ron Rochon, 346; high .triple, Jim Scott, 803; high average, Gor- don Noble, 195. A special presentation was made to Rita Duncan by the president for having served the Mrs. Leonhardt extended league as secretary 'for the past four years. thanks to the ladies of the CWL for the splendid banquet, and expressed her sincere thanks to the executive and bowlers alike" for their fine co-op.•ration dur- ing the bowling season. William Forrest. Mrs. 'Ken Carnochan read the story of the Good Samaritan, and Mrs. Allister Broadfoot read the meditation and closed with prayer. The hymns, "From Greenland's • Mountain" and -Jesus Shall eign," were sung. Mrs. D. Wallace. acting secre- tary, read the minutes and the roll call. Notes of appreciation were rea4 from Mrs. Ken Moore and Mrs. William For- rest. Mrs. James C. McIntosh read the,treasurer's report, and Mrs. C. Eyre. supply secretary, reported that the allocation of mitts. socks. and underwear had been sent -oto the Presbyterial Supply secretary, Mrs. Alton. The offering d•as received by Mrs. N. Leishman Recipes Honey Butter Sauce "Delicious with pancakes or waffles" all eup liquid honey 2 •tablespdons butter % to 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Mix honey and butter in a small saucepan. Heat slowly untilell blended. Cool slight- ly and add flavorings. Serve warm with pancakes or waffles. Makes % cup sauce. Honey Coffee Mousse ' "A' smooth, velvety 'dessert with an unusual combination of flavors" 1/2 teaspoon gelatin 2 tablespoons cold, water '/z cup strong coffee or 2 teaspoons instant cof- fee dissolved -in 1/2 cup fielling water . 1/2 .cup liquid honey 1 cup whipping cream Dash nutmeg. Soak gelatin in cold' water for• five minutes. 'Dissolve it in hot coffee and add honey: Chill, stirring occasionally , until mix: ture has thickened; then beat until foamy. Fold in 'the stiffly beaten cream. Turn into freez- er trays and freeze until firm, about two hours. Six to eight servings. Rhubarb -Sherbet =•- Thi5-"tart and tempting springtime dessert will fop oft the meal .to- perfec- tion. To save timeprepare :it in advance. Serve it in prdtty sherbet glasses with your fav- orite cookies. Remember just follow. the recipe to produce a perfect product., Rhubarb Sherbet 3 cups cut rhubarb (one- half inch pieces) 1 cup water . 1 envelope gelatin (1 table- spoon) 1/ cup cold water 1 cup sugar % teaspoon salt Red ford coloring 1 egg white 2 tablespoons sugar. Combine rhubarb and the 1 cup water in a saucepan, cover and •ctiok until tender. Mean- while soak gelatin in the 1/4 cup water for 5 minutes. Press rhu- barb through a sieve. Add soak- ed gelatin to hot sieved rhu- barb and -stir until, dissolved. Stir in sugar and salt. Add food coloring if necessary to give,,„_a pink tint. Chill, then turn into freezer trays and freeze to a rather firm .'mush. Make a meringue of the egg white and remaining sugar. Turn rhubarb mixture into a chiIIed bowl, crush with a fork, then beat for one minute with a rotary beater and immediate- ly fold in meringue. Quickly return to freezer trays and freeze until firm. Six to eight servings.
