Group Meets
The Easter Thankoffering

ternoon Auxiliary of First.
Church was held in the church
hall Tuesday, with Iadies as
their guests from Northside
United Church, Egmondville
United Church, Barbara Kirk-
man Auxiliary and McKillop
WMS.
The meeting opened with
words of welcome and the Call
to Worship by the president,
Miss J. Fraiser. Hymn 294 was
sung, followed by the Scripture
reading from Matthew 20, read
by Mrs. C. Geddes, followed by
prayer by Mrs. John Thompson.
Hymn 212, "Jesus, Keep Me
Near the Cross," was sung.
Mrs. D. 0. Fry gave a sum-
mary of the 100, years since the
WMS was started in the Pres-
byterian Church. Invitations
were read from Barbara Kirk-
man Auxiliary and from Knox
Church, Goderich, to attend
their meetings in the near fu-
ture.
Mrs. W. E. Butt favored with
a solo, "The Palms," which was
much enjoyed.
Rev. J. Ure Stewart gave an
interesting address on "Easter,
the Time of New Life." Sup-
pose we had no Easter; because
he rose, he lives; a church needs
to be missionary to endure, he
said.
Mrs. J. L. Bell-thlinked the
speaker and soloist for their!
contributions. The offering was
taken; hymn 220 was sung, and
the meeting elosed with the-
ftenedictfon.

i At the regular meeting of
Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge Mon-
day evening, a letter of appiYeci-
ation for materials for handi-
craft for the residents at On-
tario Hospital, Goderich, was
read.
Mrs. A. Osbaldeston, Gode-
rich, district deputy , president
for Huron- District, will visit
here officially on April 27. An
invitation is tieing extended to
all members of Goderich lodge
to attend. A school of instruc-
tion is to be held in Goderich
April 29, in the afternoon and
evening.
An invitation was accepted to
attend "the regular meeting of
Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter,
April 1, at which time the DDP
will be visiting' officially. An in-
vitation was also accepted to
attend a meeting of Ruth Re-
bekah Lodge, Stratford, April
17, at whicl'l time the DDP for
-Perth will be visiting officially;
also the initiatory degree is to
be conferred on several candi-
dates. Members were also noti-
fied that members of Huronic
Lodge, Clinton, are holding a
dessert euchre on the after-
noon of April- 1, in their lodge
hall.
Mrs. C. Reeves and Mrs. Geo.
Campbell were nethed repres-
entative and scholar to attend
Rebekah Assembly sessions at
Toronto in June, and .to repre-
sent the lodge at the inaugural
meeting at Exeter in June.
An invitation is extended to
the public to attend an • open
public •speaking competition at
Clinton High School the eve-
ning of April 3, at which time
one of eight contestants repre-
senting the high schools of Hur-'
on County will be judged the
one to attend the United Na-
tipns headquarters and the
World's Fair at New, York in
June. Wendy- Moore is the
contestant from Seaforth.
All members are being asked
to assist with .two projects, a
bakeless bake sale and 'Iwo Bits
•(25c) in aid of an internation-
al. project, Visual Research and
Education. All members are
asked to hand in their contri-
butions on or before April 27.

Executi', a for Blue Water Re-
gion. Mr. Rennie brought -greet-
ings from Provincial Headquar-
ters, and in an interesting and
informative speech discussed
Scouting and what it means in
the life of a boy and a com-
munity. Mr. Rennie concluded
that without boys we would
have np schools, no churches,
and even, no home, "These boys
are the citizens of tomorrow,
so let's do our share to' make
them worthwhile citizens."
The speaker was thanked on
behalf of the group committee
and those present by Norman
MacLean. Mervin Nott read a
poem, "A Special Thank You,"
and th-e evening closed with a
moment's Scout silence, follow-
ed by the benediction.
