BRACES ON BOTH LEGS wont stop this youngster from enjoying a swing with a
counsellor at one of the Ontario Society for Crippled Children's camps. Each year
hundreds of boys and girls who wear braces, or use wheelchairs or artificial limbs,
spend two or three weeks at one of the five Easter Seal, camps. At camp they compete
,--not against each other, but against their handicap. It is the highlight each year in
many young lives. Easter Seal contributions, through the Easter Seal campaign being
sponsored by the Seaforth Lions Club, make such' special vacations possible.
Easter Seals
rovi e Aid
or Crippled Children
Easter Seal contributions are
financing the finest, most up-to-
date program- •of -treatment and
rehabilitation for Ontario's crip-
pled children that you can find.
The Ontario Society for Crip-
pled Children and its associat-
ed Service Clubs ,have had 40
years of continuous expansion
and improvement, so •that to-
day the child or teenager liv-
ing in Ontario who has a physi-
cal disability has the. best pos,
sible chance • of complete re-
habilitatiou.
The peoPle af/ Ontario have
indicated their concern for the
crippled child and their belief
in the Society's.program of care
and treatment, by their •faith-,
ful support to the Society's one
annual public appeal, the Eas-
ter Seal Campaign,
The 1964 campaign must
raise at least $1,000,000 in or-
der to aszure ....th_e„ more than
16,000 crippled children that
the help of the Sotiety,,through
its nursing service, treatment
centres, clinics, cainps, equipl
ment, research and many other
activities will still be available.
In the Seaforth district, as in
every community, every small
Canadian social worker Doris Clark invites you to write
her about your problem. She answers letters of general
interest in this column but can't undertake personal replies,.
DEAR DORIS-4 would like
to be contented with my life
but can't seem to manage this.
I came to Canada 10 years ago
from Germany. We lived in a
city and I was very active in
the choir, a folk dancing group,
sewing and gym club.
New 1 am on a farm and
have four beautiful children.
But we never go anyitere.
I'm getting tired of .crocheting

DEAR CAGED—Start some
thing. For instance:
1. Start a -Women's Institute
group, •
2. Contact the Canadian As-
sociation for Adult Education,
113 St. George .,Street, Toronto
5, Ontario, which is rich with
material 'for study and conver-
sation.
3. Consult your nearest lib-
rary for books on crafts to en-
joy in groups or alone.
4. Form a bridge foursome,
and work from the hook of an,
expert.
DEAR DORIS—I understand
that there is a way that the
healthy eyes of people who die
can be used as replacements
for injured eyes and thus re-
store the ,sight of live people.
Can 1 arrange to will my eyes
to such a cause?
BRIGHT EYES
DEAR BRIGHT EYES—That's
for sure. The need is such that
in some cases a person whose
cornea is' injured or ,diseased
waits for a healthy eye to be-
come available before his op-
eration can be performed. •
The procedure for bequeath-
ing your eyes when you die is
simple. You and your next o

hamlet and every large city in
this province, there are crippled

Crippling., conditions ean oc-
'cur ita,,manyr...ways. Babies are
horn with cleft palates, deform-
ed or missing limbs, absence of
nerve and muscle control, or
one of scores of impediments
to natural physical development.
Disease causes many physical
disabilities that can have a life-
long affect. Children too, are
prone to accidents which these
days of great speed appear to
increase rather than dimish.

NOT A FISH
The jellyfish, popular name
for the medusae, bears no re-
semblance to fish and is not
related to fish. It is, in fact, a
swimming marine animal.,
which feeds on fish and other
animals by, first stupefying them
with a poison contained in its
tentacles.
