Miss Howard, who passed
away suddenly;—Was .-born , at
Blake, and was the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. George
Howard of Exeter. She was a
former school teacher • -and
taught- at Exeter, and at the
time of her death—was a' trans-
lator of languages in the Bank
of Montreal, on King St., To-
ronto. '
She was., a first cousin of
George Hess • of Hensall, who
with Mrs. Hess, enjoyed a visit
with her over the Christmas

ject, "The Milky Way," with
each ,girl commenting on the
different uses of milk and the
by-products_. It was left to the
members tobring in ideas for
the cover contest of the South
Huron District Tweedsmuir his-
tory book. There were 29 mem-
bers • present.

20th Anniversary
An enjoyable evening 'was
spent at the home 'of Mr. and
Mrs. Mervyn Hayter, Varna, in
honor of Mr. and Mrs, Harvey
Hayter's, also of Varna, twen-
tieth wedding anniversary. Five
tables of euchre were in play
and the winner's were: ladies,
first, Mrs. William Hayter; con-
solation, Miss Donna Hayter;
men's first, Mr. Harvey Hayter;
low, Mr. Glen'Ilayter. Mrs. Ken
McLean read the address and
Mr. Bob Hayter presented the
