Bev and Joe Fry presented Award of Merit at 153rd Ripley -Huron Fall Fair Troy Patterson Editor Bev and Joe Fry were hon- oured by the Ripley Agricul- tural Society for 35 years of service to the 153rd Ripley - Huron Fall Fair. The pair were honoured with an Award of Merit pre- sented on stage during the ceremonies following the Mammoth Parade on Sept. 24, 2016. Bev credit the volunteers that came before them and shared stories of her passion for the event, what it means to her family and friends. She said the event wouldn't be what it is without the tire- less work of volunteers, and the work they do behind the scenes. Sunny skies shone down on the Sept. 23-24, 2016 event, with the Mammoth Parade rolling through Rip- ley and into the fairgrounds. The Carter Shows midway was a popular attraction, as were the many agricultural animal displays from sheep, cattle, poultry and the horse show, to a petting zoo and pony rides. On top of the many classic cars that turned out, chil- dren had the chance to 'Meet a Mega Machine', with a number of pieces of heavy equipment and farm machinery on hand. Huron County Chuckers had axe throwing, while the traditional nail driving and other events were also on the docket the night before. The arena floor was packed with agricultural dis- plays, competing crops, crafts and other items. Friday night was a cele- bration for the new Ripley ambassador Bethany Wilken, who could be seen waving from a classic car in the Mammoth Parade on Saturday. The evening wrapped up with the fall fair dance, with Crazymaker playing to the crowd. See more inside and online at lucknowsentinel.com
