Wingham team claims 46th Ron Alton Tyke tournament

The 46th Ron Alton
Tyke tournament was
held in Lucknow on
March 5, 2016.
The tournament hosted
a total of eight teams from
Lucknow, Kincardine,
Ripley, Shallow Lake, two
teams from Goderich and
two from Wingham. The
consolation final was won
by Kincardine over the
Wingham Orange team.
The championship final
was won by Wingham
Black team over Lucknow
by a score of 6-2.

pledged to donate $25,000
to the Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital Founda-
tion's Our Hospital, Our
Future campaign over the
next five years.
On March 8, campaign
chair Mark Foxton and
campaign team leader
Jenny Hogervorst met the
van Heesch family at their
new showroom on Amber -
ley Road in Wingham to
accept the donation. With
the showroom located in
Morris-Turnberry and the
Euro -Parts warehouse in
Belgrave located in North
Huron, Eurohome Kitch-
ens & Appliances is a
neighbour to the Wing -
ham and District Hospital
twice over. As such, owner
Henry van Heesch said, "It
is important to us to sup-
port the ongoing success
of the hospital that serves
our family, employees and
clients." The van Heeschs
were one of the early
donors to the campaign.
Campaign team leader
Jenny Hogervorst said she
is "grateful to have such a
community -minded busi-
ness make its home in
Wingham and lead the
way in this campaign."
The Our Hospital, Our
Future campaign is striv-
ing to raise $4 million for
the major redevelopment
of the Wingham & District
Hospital. The project will
see the expansion of six
hospital departments
including the only chemo-
therapy clinic in Huron
and Bruce Counties, the
creation of new rehabilita-
tion space, the replace-
ment of digital imaging
equipment and the trans-
formation of the former
Wingham Public School
into a one -stop -shop com-
munity healthcare
campus.
All gifts to the Our Hos-
pital, Our Future cam-
paign can be pledged over
a period of up to five
years.
