$300,000 worth of
drugs in two separate
busts in Central Huron
On June 7, the OPP Organ-
ized Crime Enforcement
Bureau - Drug Enforcement
Unit, Huron OPP Property
Crimes Unit, West Region
Emergency Response Team
(ERT) and Huron OPP, exe-
cuted a search warrant at a
residence located on Orchard
Line in Central Huron.
As a result of the execution
of the search warrant, police
seized cannabis marijuana,
cannabis resin, cocaine, oxy-
codone tablets and psilocy-
bin. The estimated, com-
bined street value of the
seized controlled substances
is $222,000.
Police also seized offence
related property that con-
sisted of cannabis marijuana
growing equipment and drug
trafficking paraphernalia.
Police have arrested and
charged two men, aged 45
and 19 with production of
marijuana, possession of mar-
ijuana, cannabis resin and
oxycodone for the purposes of
trafficking and possession of
cocaine and psilocybin.
Both accused have since
been released from custody
with court appearances
scheduled.
This is the second warrant
executed in Central Huron in
five days. On June 3 police
seized an estimated com-
bined street value of con-
trolled substances worth
$70,000.

Blyth Festival
Singers wrap 35th year

The Blyth Festival Singers celebrated the end of their 35th
season as a community choir at their Cabaret on May 28,
2016. Seven of their charter members who started in the
fledgling choir in 1980 were present at the event. They are
George Ribey, Don McCaffrey, Inge Wraith, Joan Perrie, Yvonne
Martin, Bill Farnell, and Linda McGregor. The choir's last
performance of their season will be a free pre -theatre concert
at the Blyth Festival Theatre Grand Opening on June 17.

Thousands
South Bruce OPP is remind-
ing residents to be cautious
with unsolicited phone calls
following reports of success-
ful scams from residents in the
Municipality of Kincardine and
the Municipality of Brockton.
Following a phone call from
the"Canada Revenue Agency"
asking for immediate pay-
ment or the RCMP would
be sent to make an arrest,
a number of ITunes cards
were purchased to make the
required "payment". In both
cases, the amount "paid"
was more than $5,000.
The Canada Revenue Agency
(CRA) is a real agency, but
they don't contact you looking
for personal information, they
don't demand immediate pay-
ment and they don't threaten
you with arrest or prison.

Copper Wire Theft
On June 6, 2016 at 3:09 p.m.,
the South Bruce Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) received
a theft report from a hydro
switching station located in
the 500 block of Concession 2
in Bruce Township. Sometime
between 5:00 p.m. on June 3,
2016 and 12:00 p.m. on June
6, 2016, a number of 1 metre
lengths of #2 gauge copper
wire were taken. There is no
estimated value for the stolen
property available at this time.

Safety Violations
On The Water
On June 4, 2016, the South
Bruce Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) marine unit was out on
Chesley Lake and the Sau-
geen River along with a Con-
servation Officer from the Min-
istry of Natural Resources.
The officers found a number
of violations; five boaters were
charged for no personal floata-
tion device, two were charged for
having open alcohol and one was
charged for fishing with no licence.
The South Bruce OPP marine
unit encourages boaters to
enjoy the water this sum-
mer, but do it safely; always
ensure you have the required
safety equipment on board
before you leave the dock.
