Three Lucknow couples celebrating 65 years of marriage

Ross Errington joked that he fig-
ured no one thought anyone would
live to see their 65th wedding anni-
versary as he couldn't find a card to
commemorate the milestone he
and his wife Elaine will celebrate
this July 7, 2016.
"And our daughter said she
couldn't find any balloons with 65
on it. I have to make it up. Magic
Marker!" he laughed.
Ross and Elaine are one of three
Lucknow couples that will be cele-
brating their 65th wedding anni-
versary in the coming weeks. Alice
and Clarence Ritchie and Marian
and Warren Zinn are the other two.
"Three couples living in Luc -
know, 65 years of marriage, I think
that's something," said Elaine
As does their community, which
has sent the couples congratulatory
messages in the run up to their big
days including from Prime Minister
Justin Trudeau, Huron -Bruce MP
Ben Lobb and Huron -Bruce MPP
Lisa Thompson.
The three couples are friends,
some having known each other
from elementary school, and the
Ritchies invited The Lucknow Sen-
tinel over to their place June 6 to
take a picture for the paper.
"We live next door," said Ross.
"We're that close that we can
walk back and forth from each oth-
er's house," said Elaine.
And the Zinns just leave on the
outskirts of town, though they used
to live within walking distance
before moving to Sepoy Manor, a
local seniors centre.
