Helm Welding 'puts Lucknow on the map'

list off all the countries his
company has shipped its
products to.
"The majority of the
States. All across Canada. A
lot of the countries in South
America over the years.
Japan ... Iceland and Green-
land with snow blowers.
Denmark," he said while
shuffling through old pho-
tographs looking for proof.
To the surprise of proba-
bly many who live in Luc -
know, Helm Welding does
about 50 per cent of its busi-
ness internationally, he
said, with the States
accounting for the lion's
share of that followed by
Japan.
"Between the US and
Canada," he said, "Japan is
our third biggest country
taking mixers."
Feed mixers that is, one of
Helm's most popular
products, all of which have
the word Lucknow
embossed on their side in
large bold letters, advertis-
ing the village of their
namesake to the world.
It makes Clark proud, he
said, knowing that your
work is at the four -corners
of the globe.
The company was started
by Art Helm in 1964 in his
parents' shed on the Helm
family farm southwest of
Lucknow on Concession
#12.
