LUCKNOW NEWS Lucknow Sentinel Mitten Tree a success once again Ruth Dobrensky Thanks to all who contrib- uted to the Sentinel's Mitten Tree, all of the mittens, hats, scarves, etc., will be given out by the Salvation Army in their Christmas boxes and will be gratefully received. Another week closer to Christmas and I'm still not fin- ished my shopping, that's not like me. But, I do have a good excuse, I've been waylaid by an awful cold, which has also put a dent in my social life. I was too sick to even consider going to our local play, too sick to attend church, too sick to go to St. Nicholas eve at St. Paul's -Trinity, which I hear was great, too sick to attend Carolfest, too sick to do any- thing but stay home and feel awful. And so, I've been living vicariously through others by phone but am getting tired of being told, what a great what- ever I'd missed. Here's hop- ing the rest of the month will be more fun and free of illness. The Lucknow Sepoy Ranees have received a second thank you letter from Her Majesty the Queen, thanking us for the pictures and newspaper arti- cles we sent her after the tea held in her honour last June. She apologized for the late- ness of the thanks but explained that there were so many cards and letters to respond to, and they were responding as fast as they could. Just before I got sick, some friends and I went to see the movie, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' It was a really good and funny movie, take it in if you have a chance. As I've been a long time movie lover, one of the days I was sick, I watched five mov- ies, I've seen all of them before but happily watched again. In the morning, there was The Minion movie, in the afternoon, there were the three Santa Claus movies, and in the evening, there was Australia. If I had to be at home and miserable, I couldn't have spent it in a better way. Coming up this weekend, Pine River United Church will be holding their annual Blue Christmas Service on Dec. 17 from 7-8 p.m. Sympathies of the commu- nity to the families of: Pearl White, 95, Kincardine; Shirley Gilbert, 84 (formerly Teeswa- ter); Robert Fritz, 69, Chepstow; and, Fred Gallant, 86, Teeswater.
