Crop Report
', The harversting of spring
grains in Huron County has
started in several areas.
Yields in these areas... seem
to be average or slightly a-
bove average but where lod-
ging appeared, the grain did-
n't fill and thus yields are
down somewhat there. Due to
bad weather early in the sea-
son, some fields of sprin
grains were planted much la-
ter .than others. ' Therefore
some will not be, mature, for
two weeks or so. .
Theacreage of white beans
is' down slightly in the coun-
ty, due to the wet. spring. The
crop is beginning to turn in
color and is maturing quite
favourably.
The corn crop has progres-
sed rapidly after a slow start
due to cold, wet weather but
requires . more hot, sonny
days• to bring it along in ma-
turity. Yields here look prom -
Some second cut hay has
ising also. •
been taken in and is of very
good quality.
Falls, Mrs. Ronald McLaren,
Grace and Peter of Hopetown.
Veronica and Nancy McKen-
zie of Hensall holidayed with
Mr. and' Mrs. Erle Dow last
