of the musihal part .of the pro-
gram. A play "The Concert
Party" was presented by grade
eight and an amusing puppet
show was presented by Brenda
Marriott and Laura May Roney.
The guest speaker was Rev.
Orlo Miller. Mr. Miller was in-
troduced by a member of the
board, Fergus-Lannin and thank-
ed by Eleanor Lannin.
Student council president
certificates were presented to
grade eight by Mr. Friend. The
class Members are Ana: Aikens•,
Ruby Belfour, Elizabeth Brown,
Melba Jean. Friend, Eleanor
Lannin, Bonnie Marriott, Lary,
Marriott and Beth Roney.
During the evening, retiring
teacher, Mrs. Catherine Hock-
ing,.was the recipient pf a gift
of silver dollars. Wednesday
morning Mrs. Hocking received
a gift presented by Eleanor
Lannin from grade eight and
one presented by Marilyn Ron-
ey from grade five to seven.

In a setting -of candelabra and
white mums and peonies, in the
Evangelical U.B. Church, Zur-
ich, Norma Jean Geiger be-
came the bride .of Kenneth
,James Gemmell. Rev. A. M.
Amacher, Gowanstown, officiat-
ed.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Geiger,
Zurich and the groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gem-
mell, .Kippen.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a.. floor
length' . wedding gown' of white
Satapeau. The bodice was high-
lighted by a shallow scooped
neckline, three-quarter sleeves,
and a lifted waist. Elegance
was portrayed in the gently con-
trolled sheath skirt, while the
entire gown, from neckline to
a cumberbund effect at . the
waist and to the bottom of the
skirt, was strewn with appliques
of .the most delicate chantilly
lace. The main center of at-
tention was focused on the de-
tachable chapel train cascading
from a large bow at the back
waist. To complete her bridal
outfit, the bride wore a French
pure silk illusion fingertip veil
caughtup by a rosette headpiece.
She carried a cascade of pink
roses tnterwined with a shower
of white mums and ivy.
Miss Ruth Geiger was her
sister's maid of honor. Brides-
maids were Miss Margaret Gei-
ger, sister of the bride, and Miss
Barbara Gemmell, sister of the
.groom. Miss Nancy Scale, niece
of the bride, was the flower
girl. The . attendants dressed
alike' in floor length gowns of
pale aqua crystal charm, with
gently scooped neckline and
gathered train floating from a
FUNERAL
ALEX M. DOIG
Alex M. Doig, 81, of St. Pet-
ersburg, Fla., died June 29th.
Born in Tuckersmith town-
ship, he lived there for many
years studing law with his
uncle, the late Mr. William
Doig of•Kippen. He. later work-
ed on the Immigration Force in
Detroit, retiring to St. Peters-
burg in 1955:
His wife predeceased him in
1956 as didhis only . son. He
was an uncle of Mrs. Harry
Caldwell of I-tensall.
Funeral services were held
in St. Petersburg, on Friday. •

For travelling the bride don -
'lied a navy dress of Swiss shan-
tung with a lace jacket, black
patent accessories and a cor-
sage of pink sweetheart roses.
The couple will reside at RR
2, Kippen. The bride is a grad-
uate of London Teacher's' Col-
lege and the groom graduated
from W.O4.S., Ridgetown.
The bride's mother. chose a
dress of deep pink crepe with
matching satin hat and white
corsage and accessories. The
groom's mother chose blue or-
ganza over flowered satin- with
pink corsage and'"white acces-
sories.

honors degree in English Lan-
guage, Literature and History
from the University of Toronto
at recent Convocation cere-
monies, June 3rd. He has ac-
cepted a fellowship at Victoria
College which will allow him
.to earn a Master's Degree next

Mr. Johns was born in Sea -
forth and spent his boyhood on
a small farm near Mitchell. His
