Canada Highway, and• growing
Centennial,siiiri, are Helping to
bring Canadians closer' togeth-
er.
She said a car trip to the
Maritimes is no longer consid-
ered impractical for people
west of Ontario and the Rockies
are, being seen by many visitors
from Eastern Canada. "This
growing desire to discover more
about our country is important
in that it helps us to know our
countrymen better, and thus
strengthens our bond as a na-
tion,” she said.
Miss Lane added that money
spent on travel circulates
throughout our economy, en-
couraging industry, commerce
and improved tourist facilities
and also creates ' more employ-
ment.

tractions, Miss Lane gave sug-
gestions onhow to prepare for
a trip and covered tbpics such
as travelling with children,
budgeting, camping and ward-

The 19th Riley Reunion was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Riley, with 90 attend-
ing,

the services of Holy Communion

message. The choir under dir-

sang an anthem with special
parts taken by Kathie Hender-
son, Brenda Lavender, Cathy
Roberts and Clark Forrest.
Flowers in the church were in
memory , of the late Mr. John
Henderson and Mrs. William
Hyde, placed there by their

Students from grades 6-7 and
8 of . Hensall and Zurich Public

teachers, spent a day' at Niagara_
Falls Tuesday, where they took
a tour of Fort George, • Queens -
ton Heights, Welland Canal,
Wax Museum and other places.
Charles Mickle, a teacher at
Westdale Secondary School, in
Hamilton', will leave on June
29th with twenty other teachers
from the Hamilton and district
on. a two-month world tour that
will take him to hpan, )-long
Kong, China, Malaysia, Cambo-
dia, Thailand, India, Iran, Eg-
ypt, Greece and Rome.

The annual Smorgasbord of
Bewail United Church was well
attended by members of the
congregation, community and
adjacent centres. Approximate-
ly 200 dinners were served as
well as a take-out service de-
livered to 125. This event was
under the direction of Mrs.
Vern Alderdice and the Social
Function Committee,

. OBITUARY
MRS. WILLIAM HYDE
Mrs. William Hyde, 89, form-
erly of Hay Township, died in
Westwood, New Jersey, June
15th.
The former Annie Eliza
Troyer, she was born and rais-
ed in Hay Township :.and„ lived
all of. her married life on the
London Road, south of Hensall.
She went to reside with her
daughter, Mrs. Edward Barrett
at Westwood, New Jersey, some
three years ago.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Barrett, (Eleanor), West-
wood, New Jersey, Loretta of
London, two grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. Mr.
Hyde died in" January, 1962.
She rested at the Bonthron
Funeral Chapel where public
services were held on Friday,
conducted by Rev. Harold F.
Currie. Interment was in Hen-
sall Union Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Gordon
Troyer,Harry. Faber, Elgin
Rowcliffe, Harvey Hyde, Orval
Beaver, Harold Bell, London.

trict annual in Dashwood.
