The inaugural meeting of
Hensall Council was held lolOn-
day morning after- the ' em-
bers had taken their oath of
fdfice. Reeve . Mrs. Minnie
Noakes called on Rev. H. F.
Currie, who gave a message on
co-operation and gukL nce' for
1966. Rev. Currie el sed with
prayer ,for Divine guidance for
the council and officials. •
Committees were named and
appointments made. The fol-
lowirig committee appointed to
be added to the Park and Re-
creation Committees for 'a two-
year term: Barrie ' Jackson,
Maurice Tudor, Paul Neilands;
Library Board, two years: ,Mrs.
W. •O. Goodwin, Mrs. S. G. Ran-
nie; Street Committee: -.John
Baker and John Lavender; Pro-
perty: Harold Knight and Oli-
ver Jaques; James` Hyde ap-
pointed motor mechanic for the
fire brigade;. building • inspec-
tor, Norman H. Jones; relief
administrator, Reeve Minnie
Noakes; reeve and clerk to be
the signing officials.
The clerk was instructed to
order six copies of the Muni-
cipal - World for the officials.
Monteith & Monteith and Co.
were appointed auditors for
1966. Jack Lavender and Oli-
ver .Jaques were appointed re-
presentatives from council for
the Park and Recreation Com-
mittee for 1966.
Members of council' are:

Knight, Jack Lavender and Oli-
er Jaques and officials.
Mrs. Noakes is the first wo-
man reeve in Hensall in the
90 years since Hensall was in-
corporated. '

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Copeland
opened their home on Thursday
evening 'for the 'annual meet-
ing of the choir.. After short
practice, the minutes of the last`
meeting were_read and the fol-

met in Fellowship Hall'Thurs-
day., afternoon for. their firsk
meeting of 1966, with an at-
tendance of 28 ladies.
Mrs. James McAllister, lead-
er, presided and• opened with
the Invocation and a poem, "A
Happy New Year". ' Mrs. Albert.
Alexander had charge of the
devotional and® left an appro-
priate message for—e the New
Year. Mrs. Jarvis Horton, who
was responsible for the study,
introduced Rev. H. F. Currie,
who gave• an inspiring interpre-
tation of the Shepherd's Psalm.

'' Hostess of the meeting was
Mrs. T. Kyle, who with Mrs..

tering. Mrs. McAllister -read an
interesting -article of "The Feast
of the Epiphany," which ended
Jan. 6th. .Mrs. W. B: -Cross gave
a full and' favorable report of
the treasury. All members of
the unit form the visiting corn-
mittee and are to report calls
at the nexf meeting.
The quilting bee project was
discussed which usually takes
place in' February, and those
wishing to have ' quilting done
will contact Mrs. J. Flynn. The
Christmas' stocking project will
be extended to merhbers' of the
congregation who do not at-
tend meetings. Mrs. McAllister
read a recipe for "A. Happy
New Year" which included each
visited on Saturday with ,his
mother, Mrs. Mary Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sniith vis-
ited on Friday evening with Mr.
and Mrs. Wray 'Sweitzer and
Barbara,, of Shipka.

Mrs. 'Dave O'Neil was the
winner of the blanket in a draw
at the 'legion Hall Wednesday
night, sponsored by the Legion
Auxiliary. Mrs. O'Neil ,resides
in the Kink Apartments on King
Street.
Hockey Notes
Mitchell defeated Hensall Pee
Wees 6-0 on Tuesday, and on
Thursday night ,Hensall defeat-
ed Blyth 5-0.
In a game at Hensall Satur-
day ' night, Hensall defeated
Zurich 11-0. Goal -getters for
Hensall were Jim Cooper, with
three goals.; Murray Glanville,
two; Rickey Parker, two; Doug
Mock, Gary Sararas, Larry Fer-
guson, Brian Campbell, each
hand singles; goalie, Gary Cle-
ment; coach, Wayne Smith;
manager, Harold Caldwell; stick
boy, Danny Smith.
