Coisrse in Chilton_
Employees of Ontario Hydro
and their families in Clinton •
Area complete a three-day mod-
ern driving course this week.
The instruction conducted by
Hydros accident prevention of-
ficer Avery Spencer of London
was held in the Agriculture and
Food Department building in
Clinton.
First such instrudtion was
given last spring to Clinton staff
in the hydro maintenance and
service departments. These are
men -Who operate Commission -
owned vehicles on public roads.
According to Mr. Spencer the
idea has since mushroomed to
the point where the same course
is now provided to office work-
ers and wives or husbands of
Hydro employees.
"The two-hour sessions over
the past three weeks is a means
of up -dating driving skills and
practices which are so vital, for
today's road and traffic con-
ditions," Mr. Spencer said.
Developed by the Ontario De-
partment of Transport, the rood
-
driving course contains inform-
ation required by prospective
drivers in the province before
thy can obtain their driving
permits. Eventually the Depart-
ment expects to re -test all Ont-
ario drivers and make it man-
datory for motorists to pass ex-
aminations based on information
contained in the modern driving
course.
"We'vi_simply taken advant-
age of the course's availability
now," Mr. Spencer stated. "Ont-
ario Hydro employees who drive
Commission vehicles, while they
know the rules 6f the road and
are competent drivers,' tfied re-
fresher training such as is pro-
, vided by the Departnriental
gourse.
"It proved s6 popular in Clin-
that we now 'are offering the

advice from
Doris Clark
HE 15 A DAYDREAMER .
DEAR DORIS — Would you
home any ,hints on how to keep
boysi from daydreaming? We
have -a 12 -year old boy in Grade
7, who could do muli better
teacher thinks day dream -
ng. is the cause but could give
tne no help when I asked what
we could do about it.
Baffled
DEAR BAFFLED — If that
vacaup -look is there most of the
time, ask yourself:
(1) Is his yision impaired?
(2) -Does he have a reading dif-
ficulty?
' (5) Ate his deep interests lack-
ing an outlet— hi sports, or mec-
hanics, or sodal &cavities,
It pray be that when he strikes
a snag about vvluat is being
taught., he , dislikes bringing Ids
-puzzlement into focus. This
means he lets an essential point
go, and frota then on the rest of
the lesson leaves hint way out in
left field.
If so, regular coaching after
school, for a time, can catch him
up and give him a new interest
in the subjects which ate stump-
ing Urn
DEAR DORIS — Mrboy
friend had a hunting accident
and lost his right arm four
inches above the elbow. Ile was
afraid I would drop hint: be-
cause of it, and I tried to re.
assure him that it didn't make
a whole lot of difference. That
I loved him. And I do. -
But his arm does bother me
terribly. I had to watch, the pain
„shoot thro,ugh his face whenever
nyone janded it. L'had to see

I can't tell hint, but it's not

DEAR FREEZE.LIP — Nath.
iig could be more normal than
your being bothered about that
stump. This sort of thing tests
love sorely..
Yet many women — nianY

face such things With their mien

did it, with very few love cas-
ualities. The amputees, Outfitted

When he was, 13, he married
a pregant girl, but he was not
the father of the child. I guess
he thought he was doing the(
child a favor by marrying the
mother, whom he didn't love,
in order togive the child a name.
Now this child is grown up -
She came , across her birth ear-
tificate, and has written to ask
Johnif he really was her fa-
ther. Should my husband take
the blame for being her father
or shouldt he tell her the truth?
