Recipes
Sy/eel' and Sour Sauce
2 tablespoons finely chopped
onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped
celery •
2 tablespoons finely chopped
green pepper
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons cooking oil
ctiP frozen, concentrated or-
ange juice
1/2 cup vinegar
1, teaspoon soy Sauce,
1 teaspoon salt ,
1/4 -teaspoon ,,,pepper
1/3 cup brown sugar
Saute vegetables and garlic in
oil, about 5 minutes. Add re-
maining' ingredient and sim.
mer 5 to 10 minutes to blend
flavors. Use warm for brushing
pork- chops or steaks on the
barbecue. Makes about 1% cups.
- Barbecue Sauce
cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup butter
% cup cider vinegar or lemon
juice
1 cup tomato. juice
1 cup tomato catsup•
1. tablespoon VorcaStershire
• Sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar '
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
Saute onion in butter about
5 minutes. Add remaining in-
gredients, bring to a boil and
simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
Makes about 3 cups.
Marinated Pork Chops
6 loin or rib pork chops (1 -inch
thick)
% cup cooking oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon sage
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black Pepper
1 clove garlic, crushed
Snip fat edges of chops to
prevent curling and place in
shallow dish. Combine remain-
ing ingredients in a screw-top
jar and shake until blended,
-Pour marinade oVer ch'eps, cov-
er and refrigerate several hours,
turning occasionally. Drain mar--
inad& from chops and heat in
a small pan.
Place well -drained chops on
greased. grill, about 5 -inches
from coals afol cook slowly, 20
to 25 minutes each side. Brush
frequently with heated marin-
ade during cooking. 6 servings.
