R. FREDRRICK COOPER
Robert Freftrick Cooper died
in Seaforth Community. Hopi -
tar on Friday following an 1111.
ness of but a week. He was 69.
He was torn in Seaforth, a
son of the late William Cooper
andisMary Ann Evans.
Mr Cooper was • oredeeeased
in 1957 by his first wife, the
former Mae Appleby and in
1961 he was married to Mar-
varet Stephenson, who survives
to"eth°r with twn daughters,
Jean. Mrs. 1 mils Nigh Seaforth
and Merle Mrs. Edronncl John-
ston. Hnletein Ontario. He is
also siryived bY brothers. Wil-

A veteran of both wars, Mr.
Conner served from 1914 to
1918 and from 1939 to 1945. Te
was a member of Branch 156
Royal. Canadian Legion... and
members attended in a bodY at
a service Snndavoifternoon.
-Mr. Cooper farmed for more
than twenty years and in rec-
ent years had been on the staff
of RCAF Station Clinton.
He was a member of North-
side United Church and his
minister._Rev. J. Cliff Britton
conducted funeral Service at
the R. S. Box funeral hoine on
Monday aftern (um. Interment
followed in Clinton cemetery.
Pallbearers were R. S. Mac-
Donald. Cleave Coombs, W. M.
Hart, Alvin Smale.. Alvin Coin-
er and J. J. Wilkinson. Flower
bearers were Faster Bennett,
Dale Nixon and Albert Baker.
DR. J. W. AIKENHEAD
A long time physician and
well known area native, Dr. J.
William Aikenhead, died in Tor-
onto on December 30. He had
been in poor health for some
time. •
Dr. Aikenhead was born in
Stanley, the son of the late
James Aikenhead and Jessie
McEwen. He attended school in
Stanley and the Seaforth Col-
legiate Institute. Following
graduation from the Universi-
ty of Western Ontario Medical
School, London, in 1912. he es-
tablished a practice in Toronto
which he continued for more
than 50 years until a couple of
years ag..o when he retired be-
cause of failing health.
Dr. Ailtenhead is survived by
his widow the former Ethel
Winn of Dkw.Harnburg and. by
four grandchildren. Ea is also
survived by brothers, Duncan,
Seaforth and Malcolm, London
and by a sister, Margaret, Mrs.
T. B. Baird, Brucefield. An on-
ly daughter, Ruth, Mrs, M. S.
Green, died several years aeo.
Following a private service
on January 2nd, interment took
place ,in Park Lawn cemetery.

MRS. WILLIAM FALCONER
Mrs. William J. Falconer. 82,
RR 1, 13rucefield, died in Clin-
ton Public Hospital Monday.
The former Mabel Stanbury,
she was barn in Stanley Town-
ship, a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Stanbnry. A
life-long resident of -Stanley
Township, she was a member of
Turner's United Church. .Her
hosband died in March, 1957.
Surviving. are four sons,
George, Franklin and Mervyn,
all of—Tuckersmith Township;
Lawrence;' Stanley Township;
two . daughters, Mrs. Bruce
(Jean) Hyatt, Picton; Mrs. Erlin
(Kathleen)Whitmore, Seaforth;
15 grandchildren and 12 great -
gra ndch
Service was held •Wednesday
at 1:30 p.m. at the Beattie fun-
eral home, Clinton. Rev. Grant
Mills officiated. Burial was in
Clinton cemetery.
MRS. FREEMAN MAHAFFY
Mrs. Freeman Mahaffy of lot
7, con. 4, Hibbert Township, died
Monday.
She was the former Nellie
Dalrymple,. daughter of the late
Mr, and Mrs. William Dalrym-
ple. She Was born in Tucker -
smith Township, Aug, 17, 1886.
In 1907, she married. Freeman
Mahaffy. They farmed in Hib-
bert Township. Mr. Mahaffy
died in 1955. She was a 'mem-
ber of Bethel -Monroe United
Church.
She is survived by one son,
Ross, Hibbert; three'daughters,
Miss Margaretat home; Mrs.
Edwin. (borOthy) Eickmever,
Logan Township; Mrs. Ronald
(Ethel) Wood, Listowel; three
grandchildren: one brother.

sisters, Mrs. Wilbur (Marv) Ma-

The body was at the Heath -
Leslie -funeral home, Mitrhell,
where service was held Wednes-
day at 230 p m. Rev. Allen
Grose of Fullarton United
Church •officiated, Temmorary
entombment was in Woodland
cemetery 'charnel, with burial
later in the Knox Presbyterian •
cemetery, Mitchell.
