The assessment 11 for the Town of
Wingham for 1907 as handed to Town
Clerk Ferguson o Monday, Assessor
Dolma a has take a great dealal of pains
with his work and the roll is a model of
neatness. The ]lowing partionlars
from the rolls for 906 and 1907 will be
of interest: -
1906 1907
Total assessment 1 688,080 762,990
Busineasassesemen 83,835 87.655
Value of lands 128,150 155,835
Value of buildings t 467,195 506,570
Income 3,900 3,400
From the forgot • g it will be seen that
there is an increa a in the total assess-
ment of $64,910 ov:r last year. This in-
crease has been •• , de general all over
the town. Prope ty has increased in
value;and it is b natural that the as-
sessment Should •e raised. If the in-
creased assessme t will make a reduc-
tion in the tax r • te, there will not be
very much differ toe in the amount of
taxes to be paid b the ratepayers. The

that there would b no delay when it was
needed. This bro•ght np the question
of the watering o the streets, and the
members express: • their views as to
how it should be done. Some of the
councillors did no think it fair that the
few business men of the front street
should bear the gr ter part of the coot,
whereas it was a b nefit to every citizen
to have the street atered. After const•
derable discnesion,,Conn. Bell moved, se-
conded by Coun. icholson, that the
Finance Oommitt a be appointed to
devise a scheme o raise money for
street watering pn . oses, about $200, the
balance to be paid ut of the town funds.
This met with on iderable opposition,
as the amotent rail d last year was only
$100. Finally the monnt in the motion
was reduced to $10 . The motion then
carried, and the conoll adjourned.
