Sharon Wood won't reveal the secret
ingredients that go into her fabulous
Christmas house, but she doesn't hestitate
when it comes to showing off the, finished
Product.
The beautiful candy -covered house, With
fence of pretzels and marshmallows
and icing sugar icicles, sits, in the Wood
living room, where it will remain until after
New Years, Then Mrs. Wood plans to
invite a number of children in to help
dismantle the tasty Christmas decoration.
• The house, unlike many Christmas
decorations, isn't made of gingerbread.
Although the exact recipe, is a carefully -
guarded secret, Mrs. Wood admits, the
house has a cardboard, rather than
gingerbread base. Because the base is
cardboard, it can be kept year after year.
Mrs. Wood said after the candy de-
corations have been devoured, and the,
icing scraped off, the cardboard can be
stored away for use again next year. She
saidthe sante frame can be used for three
years before it starts, to buckle,
This is the third house Mrs, Wood hal
made. She estimates it took out a week
to complete, since you can only do One
section at a time; Putting on the icicles took
three hours alone - and they're made from
anther mixture whose exact components
are a secret,
Mrs. Wood learned the secrets of
making the Christmas house from her
mother. Mrs.. Gloria Glanville in Egmond-
vine and from Mrs.. Ellen Murphy,
This year she made her house the first
Week in December and it will stay on
display until the second week in January,
Who can blame Mrs. Wood's son Darcy
for feeling just a little tempted whenever
he passes through the living room?
