Just imagine, it only a
little more than a week Santa
will be preparing his sled and
reindeer for a long journey,
froth the North: Pole to visit
some .of the houses in
Seaforth and bring nice pre
-
soot he thinks. You, 1000
like.
When ':I think of Santa
Claus a lot of questions go
through my mind. Questions
such as "How did Santa get
his job?"', "How. Santa can
understand letter sent to him
A from all over the world if he
can only speak Ono
language?" and "How Santa
can afford to pay for all of the
supplies it takes to make: the
toys thathe brings us and
spay the elves, for working,
too?" Since 1 couldn't figure
out the answers, 1 decided to
try' and get some from kids
around town who. might .
understand this a little bit
better than I do.
Andrea Moore, 6 of
Seaforth helped by ex-
plaining the whole thing to
me. First 1 asked her how
Santa got his job; "Because
he is a smart man and gives
children toys, t think. that
he's pretty big tool' Then I
asked Andrea how Santa
could understandletters sent.
from all over the world.' Her.
reply to this was!He's a
special kind of man so that he
can talk all those languages.
I think the language he really
talks is our language."
How he can afford the
materials for the toys and to
pay the elves as well? He
collectsthings., to make toys
and when he makes them
they're tricky but he can do
it. He gives elves money."
I added one question for
Andrea; 'Would•you like to
be one of Santa's helpers?
"Her answer was no because

Dear Santa, '
I am five years old. How
are your remdeers? Tell the
elves to feed them real good,
I will try to be. good, ;but its
hard: I want a milking cow
and a toy cash registor and ak

Hello Mrs. Santa! 000XXX.

Dear Santa,
How are you doing: And
how as Mrs. Clause. And I:
wonder how are the elfs and
"Baby 'That,,Away".
Just ask yourself how
:Santa got his job, or how he
Can afford the toys and I'm
sure ,you'll come up with a.
reasonable answer too, but
no one: really,, , knows, the
answer to ,tho questions.
Many have gond Ideas but
they can't quite put a finger
on how he does it! Wendy's
answer to the question Why
do we give presents at
Christmas time Wags' a good
one"`
though,. We yisit them: or say
hello. When, was, the last:
time you helped a senior
citizen do some wolrk for free
as just went to say hello? For
slot of people it's been along
time. This in it's own way is
doing a, favour for God as he,
has. done so Many for us.
Cathy Carter was another
person who was a lot of help
with these questions. She
said; ,that Santa Claus could
understand all languages.
and really must like people.
I'd still like to be an elf
because .i could pick out my
own present and make , it
too."
Wendy Gowan of Seaford:,
was very helpful in
answering some ,,,of the
questions 'I asked hers Her
reason for how Santa got his
job was 'He wanted, to be
generous and give presents
to people. "When I.i' asked.
her why we give other people
presents at Christmas time
she said that it was a way of
celebrating Jesus' biithday.,
"Santa Claus has an inter-
preter to tell him what the
letterssay in different '
languages
Santa Claus is a very good
consumer , Wendy thinks
because "He goes . out and!
cuts down trees for toys
made out of wood and finds
the rest of ' the materials
needed'."; Wendy .J didn't
think that'she'd make`a very
good elf because she wasn't
too sure on how to make a
Many people think it is
very selfish, to get gifts at
Christmas when presents
have nothing to do with the
birth of Jesus. Well, in; a way
they do. Jesus was like a gift;
to us becau se he came to
earth to save our sins and
teach us to do good, not evil,
When he died his spirit
remained and . we still
celebrate his birthday, now.
Instead' of giving him the
presents, as we generally
give presents to theperson
celebrating .a brithday we
give them to each other and
make each other happy as.
Jesus taught us to.
Asthe golden rule says
"Do unto others as ,you
would; have them do unto '
you". The whole idea of
giving, presents at Christmas,
time isn't to see who gets the
most Christmas presents, it's
s. so that we can give Jesus a
present by 'being nice to
others.
This isn't the only way that
• we can be nice to others

"At Christmas time we put
up a Christmas tree and: eat
and have our friends and
grandma and grandpa over:.
It's a lot of fun. 1 like giving
people presents 'cause it
makes them 'happy.. Christ-
mas is a time to be happy and
have fun with your friends-"
The Christmas season is
one of the best': for merchants
downtown because there are
so: many people that come in
and: buy cards and presents
and with every present they
will, definitely need a rollof
wrapping paper. It is a nice
time of year for our grand
mothers and ' grandfathers
because they get ,to, see us
and a nice time of year for us.
because everyone is so happy,
and so nice to us. Inother
words, Christmas: is a nice
time of year. `
As I am writing exams
