tilie.SDHS carnival I, Wrote
004 last Week in, this,
column was as successful
weryone hoped for. The,
really helped out
j as many ways as they
Possibly could. Everyene
who was, there had a great
time and it, was well worth
the time and effort expended
byMany of the teachers and,
students at the high school.
Some of the 'booths took
skill while others, were, pure
kick. And the winners sure
didn't mind, winning! Winr,
ners or losers, we were all,
winners as the carnival WaS,
benefit to us all"
Dave Huard of Seaforth,
grade nine student at the
high school, won one cif those
things that takes a lot of skill,
for some and not any skill for
others. Obviously Dave is
one of those for whom it
doesn't take much skill.
What I'm referring to is the
pancake eating contest Fri-
day.
It took quite a lot of water,
19 pancakes (61/2 plates), and
a big appetite to win the title
of SDHS "Pancake Eating
Winner" (or in other words
"SDHS Pancake Pig" (joke
Dave) Greg Beuermann; was,
mouthfuls behind, eating
about 181/2 pancakes"
The pancakes were skill-
fully made by Mr. Scott, Mr.
Shaw and Mr- James who are
planning to run Aunt Jemima
out of business as soon. as
possible!
Their secret that won't be
a. secret after this week's,
paper is that Dirk Boechter, a
student, brought a recipe for
German pancakes to school
and helped the men make the
pancakes and added a little
German touch to the pan
cakesl
The prize for eating the
most . pancakes was V2 a
pound. of butter, • a quart of
chocolate milk, a half a
pound of whipping cream, a
quart of eggnog, and a quart
of orange juice. If the
pancakes didn't make Dave
sick, I'm sure this would!
Greg Beuermann was maybe
lucky he.didn't win.
Another comretition held.
hi the afternoon .ws.s a jello
eating COnteSt. M first when
it was announced everyone
thought he or she could
probably eat lots of jello and
win the contest. Then the
word got around that there
would be n spoons used. By
this time there was no
backing and a lot of people
lutd already signed up (to
think that i was actually
disappointed not to be in it:).
Each class had three girls
and three boys on. a: team.
The first person on the team
would eat jello offof a tray as
fast as they could until time

There was whiPPed ereant.
