The Huron Expositor, 1979-07-12, Page 19Seaforth BY pAT*IC1A REMMER. Seaforth, like many small towns, has grown from it vary. almell settlement into a medium sized town in about a hundred years.. We don't know exactly What Seaforth was like 100 years, ago, and we don't knontlwhat. it will. be 'like 100 years from pow, but, we do know that Seaford) ii4, • growing to be .better and. better. Fors instance, we Would; never dream of ,swimming happily in the Lion's Pool at 9 o'clock in the morning five years ago.. In fact :if we did, we'd be over-joyedif we got out of the pool feeling just numb! Now swimming 4essons are given every week. day morning through the 'summer in a hefted, $0°t pool. In the last few yetis, Seaforth has had many changes like the heated pool. One of these is the new playground euqipment at Seafortb Public School, Remember when the only Way° you could ever have, a "decent" swing was to walk all the way down to the, Lions' Park? By the time you got to the swings you would be completely exhausted and wouldn't want to play on the rowin last surnmer, Mr- Carroll,, the principg at .S'.P,S, and some concerned parent* planned a terrific set of playground equipment 'Un« fortunatelyit took a complete year to get an Q.K. from the government and 'some new plans before some volunteers could start constructing the swings. : Committee plans many things gs: for teens like: teller - skating almost every Tuesday and Friday night. Also there are many events, for teens such as floor hockey games and field days. These things keep us pretty busy through the summer.. • ;Another great thing; that has been added to Seaforth, is ,,i„. Vincentss farm : Equipment and the Veterinary Clinic extend Ont almost :a mile from the intersection. Maes Milk, Pizza Express,. B,P. and the Freeze King .emend: put to the western end of Seaforth. Brian's Hair- styling, the new billiard hall and the ,new I.G.A. that will new equipment, In the early days of June, the pile of boards, and tires began to look like something. On June 25th the students and teachers of • S.P.S. officially opened the , new construction. This gives many of the kids. of Seaforth something to do on a.:hot. summer day. There's a small slide, a swinging tire, a long, red tube, a ladder; tires and a rope ladder to climb on for kids to play on. The Seaforth, `Recreation tweens cable, T.V, This stops us from wanting to smash A' the T.V. tube because . we don't get the channel that a great movie was on. Of course we'd never do any- thing like that! Besides activities for kids; teens and in. betweens. Seaforth has also added some new buildings, apartments and. activities for senior citizens. ;A lot of the new buildings Seaforth are opening it up and extending it to all. ends of town. At the north end of town Canadian Pools, be opening, cover the south end of town as, well as the. Optimist Park. These buildings have. nothing to do with kids teens or in betweens but will have something do withyou in the future as Seaforth grows better and better. If you have any ideas. drawings, stories or suggestion for the kids' page please send them to: Kids, Teens and In Between, c/o Patricia Rimmer Box278 Seaforth, NOK IWO or Phone 527-1492 Banana eaters stuffed There should be it number of young people in.
