In 1967 the old barn was
disniantied piece by piece in
preparation for,tonstructiong
the present clubhouse. This
clubhouse was opened in
1969 in time for the wedding
reception of Ann McConnell,
the first of many special
'events held there.

Outside • the grass keeps
growing and mest be •cut
regularly. Greens are cut
several times a week and it
takes four to five 'each
time. The greens are bigger.

fairway S require .about ten
hours of cutting time twice a
week. This is about half the'
. time that used to be required.
The outside work goes on
and on. Over 200 trees have
been planted and the creek
has been dredged. Greens
and tees have been moved
and enlarged. Fertilizing,
cutting, irrigating, tree prun-
ing and hundreds of other
outdoor jobs are done repeti-
tiously, not to mention rock
picking. ,
The Dream of Ken and
Rod Dog is now a snappy
little 'nine hole course. A
course that gives a good
challenge yet doesn't break
your heart. 1 es a course
where in 1978 over 36,000
hours of recreation. Were
provided for golfers frOm the
duffer -to the scratch player...
There are still many
things to be done but-, yes,
the dream is a reality.
Now other golfers, While
winding their way around the
Seaforth course, are perhaps
dreaming of their own course
someday.
Meanwhile the Doig brot-
hers Are still picking rocks.

has been practising for the
past month in preparation for
the upcoming 1979 season
which.begins this weekend.
On Sunday. April 29 they
evened. their exhibition
games at 1 Win and 1 loss as
they defeated London United
2-0 in. London. United held
the edge in play inthe first
' half but were unable to score
as Frank Vcrbernc stopped
any shots that got through, to
the goal. The 2nd half was all
St. Columban as they
pressed from the whistle
right up until the end. Brad
Finlayson opened the scoring
5 minutes into the half on an
excellent individual effort.
Bill Docking made it 2-0 four
minutes later when he out
the London
defenders to head in a center
kick from Finalysen.

All in all. St. Columban
played very strongly,
particularity considering•that
it was only' their second
game. With continued• im-
provement, top spot in the
•Second Division does not

1st exhibition game in
Stratfrod on April 22 against
Stratfrod F.A.G.. losing by a
3-0 score. It was a typical
first game of the year as both
teams seemed to be fighting
the ball and had ,trouble
playing tegether.
Stratford finished the 1978
season on top of the 2nd
Division and So are promoted
to the I st. Division for 1979.
Consequently, St. Columban
will not be opposing them
inthe regular sehedule.

During the past two
seasons Si. Columban
operated both an "A" and a
13" team. However, due to
an insufficient sUply of
players. the "B" team will
not be in existence in 1979,
The St. Columban Minor,
Soccer AssoCiation, though.
has -entered teams in the
Bantam (15-16 years) and
Junior (17-18 years)
Divisions, so the future
supply of players scorns
