The residents on Princess Street who,
since the installation of the sewage system,
have had on the street in front of their
property a pool of water for days after a raid
and an unsavoury mess thereafter are
grateful indeed to have had it Cleaned up' as

over and made backing out of driveways a bit
of a problem. Cleaning it up last Thursday
must have been a cold, unpleasant job.
Thanks fellows!
Minister of the gospel remind their flocks
what is due unto God. One minister, made
sure in his own wayhe did not forget
that
what he owed others. He put all his bills into
an envelope and tucked it into a drawer. On
that drawer was written in large letters
"Due Unto Others."
How tragic it is that child suicide is the
leading cause of death among adolescents.
The rate of such suicides has tripled since
1956. The doctor who is head of the
psychiatric emergency at the Children's
Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa said
his department sees between 50 and 100
adolescents who have attempted suicide
each year. Dr. George McLean, director of
the children and family psychiatry unit at
Ottawa General Hospital, said that even
pre-school children have taken their own
lives. The report stated that most children .
who attempt suicide have been in many
foster homes or their parents are depressed,
separated, or divorced. Children now Show
depression at an earlier age and attempt
suicide.
Maggie Trudeau, after a six-year separa-
tion, has filed for divorce from Prime
Minister Pierre Trudeau. After her cavorting
with the jet set, she has flitted from one
thing to anther trying her hand at a number
of professions showing all the marks of her
avowed flower -child lifestyle. She apparent-
ly wants to be like all wild flowers — free to
wander where they will. Although having
been the companion of various men and has
now been dating a wealthy Ottawa man, her
lawyer said she has no plans to remarry. She
has worked for an Ottawa T.V. station for
two years and is to have her own program
dealing with women's issues.

rr•rrrrr,
it is likely that the verdict lit the combines
trial of Southam inc. and Thomson News-
papers Ltd. will be delivered by the
presiding judge on Dec. 9. Southam and
Thomson and a number pf heJ subsidiaries
are charged with consa y and merger in
the closing of Thomson's Ottawa Journal
and Southam's Winnipeg Tribune and a
related transaction that gave ,Southam
virtual control of the English language daily
"newspaper market in Vancouver. Want to
make a guess on the verdict? Thomson and
Southam are weilders of a great deal of
power.
The changing of one letter in a word can
completely alter the . intended meaning of
that word. You can occasionally spot errors
in reports. articles and advertising in
newspapers. They are of course, uninten-
tional mistakes. Sometimes one wonders if a
mischievious genie did it on purpose as in.
this one seen in a newspaper many years
ago. "He is a charmismatic speaker and a
farce in politics." The a in farce was meant
to be an o. It could be that the error made it a
more accurate statement.

WHAT CAN I SAY?
WHAT CAN I DO?
If you've avoided visiting the home of a
terminally ill friend or relative because
you don't know what to do or say when
you get there; you're not alone. But
here are•some things you can consider. •
DO IT NOW; Visiting them now Shows
them you're still a friend. Visiting at the
–funeral shows the widow (er)'and family
the same thing, but also that you waited
too long. Do it now, and show you care.
WHAT TO SAY AND DO: Say. that
,;you've ,been praying, for him and mean,
k. Say that you've brought a book that-.
might help. Say you've arranged to take
that friend to the hospital (or doctor's
office) for the re ular visit next
Thursday, so the spa se can tend other
chores. Take h' ife's grocery list
along with yo hen you go market-
ing next week. ffer to fix a lunch, wash •
• a car, drive the kids or any other special
little choreas needed. Bot, do it now. '
DON'T STOP THERE: After the
funeral, all of the above are still good
examples to follow - and may aid in
comforting the family.
