The doctor who is head of the psychiatric emergency at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa said his department sees between 50 and 100 adolescents who have attempted suicide each year. Dr. George McLean, director of the children and family psychiatry unit at Ottawa General Hospital, said that even pre-school children have taken their own lives. The report stated that most children . who attempt suicide have been in many foster homes or their parents are depressed, separated, or divorced. Southam and Thomson and a number pf heJ subsidiaries are charged with consa y and merger in the closing of Thomson's Ottawa Journal and Southam's Winnipeg Tribune and a related transaction that gave ,Southam virtual control of the English language daily "newspaper market in Vancouver.
