'On a dear day you could see forever', are
words to an old sons; which apply to the
countryside -these day:.. For the first thtie in
months we now can see for miles across the
fields which have had tle corn harvested. The
tall stately stalks of cot n are either in the silo
or the kernels have b1:en taken to the local
mills for drying and sale. Farmers are busy
plowing and comple ting their season's
harvest of late soybean s and corn. The severe
frost these past few ntornings have left the
trees almost barren and the remaining
flowers are beginning to look a little wilted.
With the end of another month we saw all
the wee folk out trick o • treating in their most
imaginative costumes. They came and went
in their usual pleasant, kind way which made
it even more enjoyabe in passing out the
treats.
But November has arrived and the time has
come for the youngster s to start counting the
days.,until Christm•M, .Santa Claus and. -of.
course a holiday from school. The stores are
being decorated in suca eye-catching fashion
that itis quite difficult to concentrate on one's
shopping When one tic inks of Christmas, one
automatically thinks of snow but it is very
difficult to visualize when we are having such
fantastic fall weather. All good things must
come to an end and one of these days when we
awake, the ground will be whitewvith snow to
much to the children's delight and the snow
shoveller's fright, but until that time I am
more' than satisfied to -just see the early
morning frost.
