The annual membership meeting of 'the
Clinton and District Christian School Society
vats .held on Sept. 14.
;Members, parents, teachers and board
members were all present to discuss the
budget and business for the 1983.84 school
year. President Bert Dykstra opened the
Meeting,
Election of board members was held with
Bill Van Reenen and Margie Ridder elected
for Clinton area, Ko Hamming elected for
Myth area and Bill Jongejan for Goderich
district.
Henry Drost, treasurer, presented the
budget for the 1983-84 year totalling
$315,550.
The education committee proposed to hire
an additional part-time teacher in order to
ease the burden of over -crowded classroom
on the existing staff members. The members
voted in favor giving the board approval to
hire a teacherright away.
Ralph Schurrman told members that
teachers remain the same as last year. Mr.
Schurrman, principal teaching Grade 8; Mr.
Uy1, Vice-principal teaching Grade 7; John
Huls, Grade 6; Clarence Soli, Grade 5; Alice
Bakker, Grade 4; Eva Roorda, Grades 2B
and 3; Mar_gerat Guetter, Grades 1 and 2A;
Dorothy Prinzen, Kindergarten, Mon.,
Tues. and Fri. and remedial work on Tues.
and Thurs.
Two hundred and three students enrolled
this year with approximately 75 families.
Mr. Schurrman thanks board members on
behalf of the Society for work they do in the
administration of the school. All their work is
volunteered and many hours are spent on
this during their spare time. The. society
demonstrated their appreciation with round
of applause. Several new families were
introduced to the society.

Senlac, Saskatchewan visited
her nephew Rev. Stan Mc=
Donald and is also visiting
with her sister Mrs. Mark
Whitney, and Mr. Whitney of
Highway 21. Accompanied by
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thomp-
son of Listowel they attended
the morning worship at Hen-
sall United Church on Sunday
morning.
A SCOTTISH FIDDLER—Popular musician,
Nelson Howe of Staffa, plays fiddle as well as
bagpipes and he accompanied young step -
dancers at Saturday afternoon's Clderfest
entertainment downtown. Goulnlock St. was
blocked off for the stage show and an antique
farm machinery display. That's longtime Van
Egmond Foundation volunteer, Gladys Van
Egmond on the keyboard behind Mr, Howe.

Mrs. Martha Barr and Miss Jean Nangle
of New Jersey visited a few days last week
with Mrs. Audrey Christie and while here
attended Mrs. Jessie Brock's 90th birthday
P arty. . Kenneth Knight conducted service in
Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday
morning and served World Wide Commun-
ion. Mrs. Joan Keyes presided at the organ.
Thanksgiving service will be held at 9 a.m.
next Sunday.
Sept. 27 Hensall 4-H Club (The Fit -
Fiddlers) met. After roll call conducted by
President Liz Sangster, each member was
asked to give one example of how she was a
smart shopper. They discussed tips on how
to keep your hair looking and feeling good.
Special guests Marlene Taylor and Helen
Kadey led in "Jane Fonda's Workout"'. All
were tired at the end of the third meeting,
but are all looking forward to the next one.

YOUTH FOR CHRIST
There was an excellent attendance at the
first Rally of the 1983-84 season of the South
Huron Youth ,for Christ. Rallies are held the
fltst Saturday night of each month at Huron
Centennial School, Brucefield. Nov. 5 Is
neat.
The Three Links Seniors will meet Oct. 11
when the draw will be made on the tickets
for the quilt, All tickets are to be handed in
to Mrs. Evelyn Flynn by Oct. 7.
CHOIR PARTY
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor Sunday
afternoon hosted a party in honor of Mill
Elaine Love whose marriage to Gordon
Hampton, Kitchener takes place Oct. 8 in
Carmel Presbyterian Church. A sing -song
was enjoyed with Mrs. Blanche Dougall at
the piano. Miss Faye Anne Love played
piano selections. Miss Maty Thompson gave
an address and Miss Amy Jean Love
presented the couple with a gift to which
they made a fitting reply. Everyone enjoyed
a pot -luck dinner topped off with cake and
ice cream.
QUEENSWAY NEWS
This past week at Queensway Nursing
Home has been quite -busy, On Monday the
residents were entertained to Bingo; Tues-
day Mrs. Shirley Luther took the Church
service. To celebrate birthdays for Vera
Lammie, Reta Potter, Jack Lowe, and Levina
Fmkbeiner a birthday party was held on
Thursday, also movies were shown and
enjoyed by all the residents. Bowling on
Fnday at the Zurich Lanes resulted very
close but Neil Regan came out several points
ahead of Lloyd McDougall.

Four new members were received. The
flowers at the front of the church were
placed in honor of the '90th birthday of Mrs.
Jessie Brock.
The annual Audio -Visual workshop was
held in the United Church on Monday
evening with a good attendance. Mr.
McDonald conducted the workshop and
representatives of all U.C.W. Units, other
groupies well es Sunday Church school staff
attended to receive helF in programming
and operation of the equipment.
Rev. McDonald and Mrs. Grace Drum-
mond, Presbytery delegate from Hensall,
attended the Huron -Perth Presbytery meet-
ing held in Brussels United church Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Walters of R.R.3,
Kippen, Ont. celebrated their 50th anniver-
sary Sept. 24 with their family and friends at
Bmcefield-,church hall.
They have a family of ,eight children - two
daughters Dorothy Finkbeiner of Belmore
and Helen - Mrs' Andre Aubin of Cambridge
and six sons - Clarence. Atwood; Wilmer,
Stratford; Bob, Holstein;' Bill, Orillia; Mel,
Markdale and Glen, Cambridge.
They also have 26 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walters had
three of her sisters and two brothers-in-law
here from the west to help celebrate.
Mr. and Mrs. Walters were sent good
wishes from the Prime Minister and the
Govenor General of Canada.

applied at the last.
Faces by now had assumed a rosy glow. A
lunch of "happy faces" was served by Mrs.
Hoggarth to finish off the interesting
meeting.
