The summer is quickly
passing by and the days will
soon be getting shorter and
shorter. The cool damp eve-
ning air lends way to search-
ing for .thoseZvweaters we
haven't needed for the past
few months. The grain crops
are almost all taken off now
and it is only a matter of time
until the beans and corn crops
will be harvested.
The garden corn is ready to
eat and what a delicious treat,
along with all the fresh home
grown vegetables that are
now available.
The youngsters are start-
ing to count the days until
they head back to school for
another year. For many it is a
very painful first few days as
they must wear shoes and for
many they haven't had any on
since June except on Sunday.
But going to school is a must
and so is the shopping sprees
to replenish wardrobes as
wee folk do grow and clothes
in due time do wear out.
The Dublin Athletic
Grounds were well occupied
this week as the ladies
softball teams, participating
in the Seaforth Sportsfest,
were using the Dublin ball
diamonds. If you were a
baseball lover this was a
weekend just for you.
Father Joseph Karmun-
athy from India who is study-
ing Theology in St. Louis
Minnesota was in London last
week, Father Karmunathy
was an acquaintance of the
late Mrs. Melva Murray. Her
daughter, Mrs. Joe Delaney
continued on with the corre-
spondence. During his visit to
London Mr. and Mrs. De-
laney brought him to Dublin
where he visited with mem-
bers of the Delaney and
Murray families.
,Mr. and Mrs. Joe Delaney
flew to Lloydminster, Alberta
on Friday to attend the Junior
Canadian Softball Champion-
ship tournament. Miss Jayne
Delaney, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Delaney plays sec-
and base with the Kitchener
Civitans. The Clvitans won.
the Ontario Junior, Champ-
ionship in Byron recently. We
are very pleased they came
home from Alberta the
champions also as they were
undefeated in all games.
Mr. Dan Butters has re-
turned home after spending
two weeks in Edmonton visit-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Coyne and Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Butters.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Butters
have returned home after
spending two weeks at Point
Clark. Eric Butters also has
returned after spending the
previous week at Point Clark
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Morris.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Murray on the
birth of a daughter in the
Stratford General Hospital on
Thurs. Aug. 11.
•Congratulations are also
extended to Mr. and Mrs.
Graham Leslie on the birth of
their flrstbdrn child, a son on
Fri. Aug. 12, in the Stratford
General Hospital.
